Are you kidding? No effing way. Hermida's in the midst of an 11-game hitting streak right now. He's also one of the more patient hitters in the lineup, and has more speed to run the bases and get to balls in RF than Gonzo, and has a cannon for an arm. Remember when he gunned down Griffey at home? Gonzo does NOT make that play.
June 25, 200818 yr If Hermida was still slumping then yes but he's playing better now. He has an eleven game hitting steak and is also walking again.
June 25, 200818 yr Sorry, I was a little harsh. Gonzo's been great for us, but he's not what he used to be. Gonzo does have the best BB/K ratio on the team (29/27), but Jeremy walked three times last night and is pretty patient for his age. Their batting averages are similar (Gonzo's at .272 and Jeremy .273). But Gonzo has a higher OBP (.355 to Hermida's .338). Their OPS' are currently identical at 106, but Hermida's slugging percentage is a little better than Gonzo's. But all things considered, youth, speed and a career-high hitting streak will keep Jeremy in there for a while. Props to baseball-reference.com, aka my Torah

Absolutely not. Gonzo is 40 years old. He's perfect as a PH. Hermida is starting to heat up and he's still very young

June 25, 200818 yr I know it's been said, but I will say it again. Switching Gonzo for Hermida in RF will also switch opponents' long singles into triples.
