July 23, 200817 yr Ken Rosenthal reported the other day that the A's are considering trading Huston Street. Should the Marlins go after him? The price would be high, and talks would probably start with Volstad, but Street would be under team control through 2010, unlike Fuentes who would bolt after the season ended.
July 23, 200817 yr Street has struggled.. But I would take him in a heartbeat alot of potential... However when you said it starts with Volstad thats a HELL NO! Never would I trade a standout SP for a RP... Now if someone else will get it done then im all for it
July 23, 200817 yr Would love to have him but not for Volstad... I'm sure we have plenty of other guys that Beane would take though...
July 23, 200817 yr If we do get him (though doubtful), Uggla should buy him dinner...two dinners, one for each save he made Street blow
July 23, 200817 yr Author Would love to have him but not for Volstad... I'm sure we have plenty of other guys that Beane would take though... Yeah. I was just assuming the talks would start with Volstad, but you're right, there could be other players Beane would want.
July 23, 200817 yr I say pass. Beane would likely want 2/3 from Vanden Hurk, Tucker, West, G. Sanchez, Raynor, Morrison, Dominguez. To be honest I think I rather just keep the prospects and when Anibal Sanchez comes back stick Vanden Hurk in the pen. I don't think Vanden Hurk is MLB ready starter but do think he MLB as a reliver.
July 23, 200817 yr I wonder if our two Gabys would work. I doubt it, but if that's all it took I would do the deal. Just throwing out a crazy idea out there but what about a Dan Uggla for Houston Street, Gio Gonzalez, Mark Ellis. -Gio Gonzalez can go straight to our bullpen and he has always been tough on lefties I believe. -Houston Street can become our closer/set-up -Mark Ellis is a stop gap, though he is in a pretty big slump right now, he is a free agent at the end of the year and we either will get 2 picks or 1 for him as long as we offer him arbitration. Again just a crazy idea, zero chance of it happening but just throwing it out there

July 23, 200817 yr Author Billy Beane does not trade for guys like Dan Uggla. He's far too close to a large pay day for Beane's liking.

July 23, 200817 yr Author Gio attended Hialeah High School in Hialeah, FL for the first 3 years of his high school career, where they won two state championships and nearly won a third. After his junior year, he transferred over to Monsignor Edward Pace High School in 2004
