October 30, 200322 yr Even funnier, AJ a closer. Have you SEEN him pitch? Ugh... Stop it with the AJ a closer thing, people.
October 30, 200322 yr AJ shouldnt Start till FULLY Healed. Till Then He Should come in as a regular Reliever. My Possible Lineup? 1. Pierre (CF) 2. Walker (2B) 3. Pudge ? 4. Lowell (3b) 5. Cabrera (RF) 6. Conine (LF) 7. Nick Johnson (1B) 8. AGon (SS) Rotation: Beckett Penny Redman Pavano Willis Relievers: Chad Fox (Set up) Looper (Closer) Tejera Phelps Bump Burnett (For the 1st Month or 2) Kline (Signed as FA) Bench: Banks Mordecai Chad Allen Chris Stynes (Signed as FA) Castro
October 30, 200322 yr Tommy Phelps... Was very Solid out of the Pen for the Fish before he got Injured around July.
October 30, 200322 yr AJ shouldnt Start till FULLY Healed. Till Then He Should come in as a regular Reliever. Sometime relieving can put even more stress on an arm than starting (see John Smoltz and Darren Driefort).
October 30, 200322 yr More realistic: CF - Pierre 2B - Eric Young 3B - Cabrera LF - Conine 1B - Nick Johnson RF - Shannon Stewart/Juan Gonzalez/Raul Ibanez C - Redmond SS - Gonzalez Rotation: Beckett Penny Willis Burnett Pavano Bullpen: Bump Looper Fox Al Levine Tejera Ricardo Rincon
October 30, 200322 yr why wouldnt AJ just do a couple of rehab starts in the minors instead of being in the pen? question-c/o Das
October 30, 200322 yr Why would anyone want Young? Why would anyone want Walker, a low OBP hitter, in the #2 hole? And why would anyone think Walker is an upgrade? He is worse in the field and no better at the plate. (than Castillo) I would like to replace Lee with a more consistant bat by getting a 1B or OF free agent (dream pick would be Guerrero) but I would be plenty happy to maintain the current line-up without Encarnacion and Cabs in RF. Matter of fact, resigning Castillo, Rodriguez and Urbina and prompty punting Encarnacion would make me fairly happy. I doubt the team would spend to replace Gonzales and there is no cheap alternative.

He is worse in the field and no better at the plate. (than Castillo) I wouldn't want Eric Young, but it's the kind of dumbass move I could see Beinfest making because they want a guy with speed to take over Castillo's role (regardless of how good he actually is); so they can continue to play "small ball" (never mind the fact that "big ball" is really what got them there). Personally, I think they should move Cabrera to 2B, sign Lowell to a 4-year extension, and see about signing a decent RF like Reggie Sanders or a more-affordable Juan Gonzalez (with a decent backup).
October 30, 200322 yr Author More realistic: CF - Pierre 2B - Eric Young 3B - Cabrera LF - Conine 1B - Nick Johnson RF - Shannon Stewart/Juan Gonzalez/Raul Ibanez C - Redmond SS - Gonzalez Rotation: Beckett Penny Willis Burnett Pavano Bullpen: Bump Looper Fox Al Levine Tejera Ricardo Rincon Redman over Pudge ? with the team you put i dont think we would win over 80 games.. Plus Burnett is better off as the team closer, just look at Gange and Smoltz.. bouth had Tommy John Surgery they both became closers and now are awesome
October 30, 200322 yr well, EY had 15hr and 28sb.... thats why lol Eric (not) Young will be 37 and his this year's HRs were a statistical abberation for him, and even with them he didn't have a better slug than Luis. He also doesn't get on base enough to be at the top of the order. The move for the fish is to retain Luis.
