October 30, 200322 yr he would do everything in his power to help the Marlins get a new stadium. He continues to say that he makes very little off the Marlins and would prefer them out of PPS. Olindo Mare missing that field goal off the dirt infield (and ultimately losing the game against the Pats) should be impetus enough for H. Wayne to get involved. It will also be a public relations coup and chance for Wayne to clean his soiled image in South Florida. :hat
October 30, 200322 yr I think Huizenga will do whatever he can to kill a stadium deal. There's a limited number of dollars that individuals and corporations can spend on sports. If the Marlins start pulling in revenue in their own stadium, part of it will be new money but part of it is going to be siphoned from money that goes to the Dolphins, Heat, and Panthers. I would think the ideal situation for Huizenga would be a weak Marlins team playing in PPS in the summer. Huizenga gets some money from concessions and rent at a time the stadium would otherwise be empty. I think the last thing Huizenga wants is for the Marlins to be wildly successful in South Florida and receiving revenue that he can't get his hands on. I don't think he's going to want a good Marlins team taking away interest from his Dolphins during the meaningless NFL exhibition games when attendance is weak anyway and during the early part of the football season.
October 30, 200322 yr huizenga would stand to benefit a lot from a successful marlins team. the guy made a fortune off of our postseason games. obviously he doesnt want the stadium deal to go through, but good attendance this year would help him line his pockets with more cash. olindo mare missing the field goal is olindo mare's fault. if anything, the infield dirt should give the dolphins a huge advantage because other teams aren't accustomed to it. theoretically, these guys should have a fair amount of practice on the dirt... olindo mare, in particular.

That's always been my thinking, almost to the letter. The last thing Wayne wants is another healthy team in town siphoning off sports dollars. One other thing. Another sports facility/stadium in town raises the possibility of yet another AFL/WFL etc. professional football league startup some time down the road. Farfetched? Yes, in this economy, but as things improve and they surely will don't be surprised to see another group of entrepreneurs try it again.
October 30, 200322 yr Who pays the light bill in PPS the marlins or Wayne? If it is Wayne I'm sure that is the reason he make little money of the marlins. When the marlins get their own stadium the'll have to pay the light bill. Think about that.
October 30, 200322 yr Is not funny. I'm not sure but I think the D-Backs could not afford the light bill once.
October 30, 200322 yr The man made a few million in the post-season alone, and that's on PARKING. No way he wants them out of the Pro.
October 30, 200322 yr Olindo Mare missing that field goal off the dirt infield (and ultimately losing the game against the Pats) should be impetus enough for H. Wayne to get involved. Mare's been missing field goals lately regardless of whether he's on grass or a dirt infield. I think it's a matter of him sucking and not the surface he's kicking from.
October 30, 200322 yr I think it's a matter of him sucking and not the surface he's kicking from. Yea, he's just the second-most accurate kicker in NFL HISTORY.
October 30, 200322 yr And he's missed three field goals in his past two games. That's called a slump and even the second most accurate kicker in NFL history can go through one of those.
October 30, 200322 yr And he's missed three field goals in his past two games. That's called a slump and even the second most accurate kicker in NFL history can go through one of those. Yes, he is in a slump. But he doesn't "suck."
October 30, 200322 yr I didn't say he "sucks" like it's a definitive answer. But lately he has been sucking as in the present tense. I'm not trying to be mean to the guy, but he has been having a rough time lately which was my only point really.

October 30, 200322 yr I think it's a matter of him sucking and not the surface he's kicking from. Yea, he's just the second-most accurate kicker in NFL HISTORY. he's not anymore. feel free to check.
October 31, 200322 yr he would do everything in his power to help the Marlins get a new stadium. He continues to say that he makes very little off the Marlins and would prefer them out of PPS. If you believe that, then I've got a nice bridge to sell you. Wayne is making more money off the Marlins than Loria is. A new stadium would really suck for him.
