September 2, 200817 yr Author I'm not sure about UCF vs. USF, but UCF's defense held on strong this weekend, though the offense wasn't exactly I-A par. Could be a damning indictment of Michael Greco. I think USF will win, but I don't think they'll score much. It'll be more like the opening day last year vs. Texas. :mischief
September 2, 200817 yr florida blows out UM I wouldnt be suprised if it is competitive for a while the weather may factor in and slow both teams down although I hope the Gators crush the Canes
September 2, 200817 yr My Owls should have a much better showing this week against UAB then they did against the Longhorns. We had a chance to make it a game in the first half, but 2 turnovers in the red zone in the 1st quarter killed any chance we had at being competitive. We did move the ball well on Texas in the first half(we put in the 2nd string early in the 2nd half), so that was a good sign. Our D struggled, but should improve when not playing talent on Texas' level. UAB gave up 600 yards to Tulsa last week, so we should put up a lot of points against them and get our first win of the year. My other predictions...USF over UCF. UCF struggled to score on their I-AA opponent last week, so I don't think they can put up enough points to beat the Bulls. I hope i'm wrong since USF got pretty full of themselves last season and a loss to their rival UCF would knock them down a peg or two. I don't think the UF/UM game will be particularly close. UF likely wins big.
September 3, 200817 yr I like Florida over Miami by 20 which means not a close one but Florida does not cover. Go Gators!
September 3, 200817 yr Golly. Bold prediction by some of you who have the Gators blowing out UM. I'd like nothing more than for the Canes to slap the Gators around and send their pompus ass fans home unhappy, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

September 3, 200817 yr Maybe so, but I'd say UM fans have a little more room to work with compared to UF's new wealth. All of a sudden they're the "real U" - so says some fool on the Gators - and the best team the state of Florida has ever seen. Pff.
September 4, 200817 yr FIU takes on Iowa this week, get a bye next week and then our home opener against USF. Should be tough going into Iowa but they have been down lately, never know what can happen.
September 5, 200817 yr Maybe so, but I'd say UM fans have a little more room to work with compared to UF's new wealth. All of a sudden they're the "real U" - so says some fool on the Gators - and the best team the state of Florida has ever seen. Pff. We are a "real U" because our university actually sees the big picture. Not only do we sink money into our football program, but we also put money into non revinue sports such as gymnastics so the Gator Nation can have pride everywhere. Also, we have our own stadium on campus and don't have to lease one from an NFL team like some so called "U" does. :mischief
September 5, 200817 yr i hate to say it as a canes fan but were gonna lose BUT its gonna be close you watch 10 points win at most

September 6, 200817 yr i hate to say it as a canes fan but were gonna lose BUT its gonna be close you watch 10 points win at most Weren't you the one who picked Miami to beat Florida in NCAA Pick'um though? What's wrong with that? Miami owns Canesville and I won't pick the Gators to ever beat THE U until they prove other wise.

I'd like nothing more than for the Canes to slap the Gators around and send their pompus ass fans home unhappy, but I'm not going to hold my breath. pot calling the kettle black Except UM fans have a reason to be pompous. 5-2 (both flawed) and 1985.
September 6, 200817 yr Washington get's screwed. Being excited because you put yourself in a position to tie it up with seconds left in the game is not the same as doing the dirty bird in the endzone. Those refs should be ashamed of themselves.
September 7, 200817 yr Washington get's screwed. Being excited because you put yourself in a position to tie it up with seconds left in the game is not the same as doing the dirty bird in the endzone. Those refs should be ashamed of themselves. I just saw the replay of that....that was one of the worst calls I've ever seen.
September 7, 200817 yr I hate the new rules about the celebration penalties. Horrible, Horrible call.
September 7, 200817 yr My other predictions...USF over UCF. UCF struggled to score on their I-AA opponent last week, so I don't think they can put up enough points to beat the Bulls. I hope i'm wrong since USF got pretty full of themselves last season and a loss to their rival UCF would knock them down a peg or two. Gonna correct a couple things there... first of all, as any self-respecting USF fan will tell you, the UCF-USF rivalrly ship has sailed... they are our punching bags, regardless the close score, our kicker sucks, nice guy, cool to hang out with, but he's a punter, and he would have given us a win (by 6) before overtime even was a thought and a few games last year ... which mistakenly led people to believe we got "full of ourselves"... secondly, we got murdered by god-awful officiating down the stretch, the only games we truly lost were the Rutgers game and the Oregon game. The other losses were absolutely riddled with officiating that'd make Tim Donaghy look good... Otherwise, your prediction was right :thumbup
