November 3, 200322 yr Ramp, I may be a bit late to the party on this but I did have some questions regarding your spreadsheet. What is the total projected payroll for your scenario? I could not find this column. It looks like we lose Urbina and Castillo as Free Agents and trade away Penny and Lee in your scenario. Are you assuming we get Walker from Boston as a result of a deal for Penny? The way I see our farm system/bench - the most adequate young replacements/ players are Cabrera, Castro and Stokes. Our biggest holes are up the middle (short and second) and a hard throwing closer. Based on this assesment I think we would better off moving Lowell, Looper, Encarnacion, Redmond, Redman and Lee and re-signing Pudge, Castillo, Urbina and keeping Penny. By moving the arbitration eligible players we would get some immediate value in return as opposed to letting the free agents walk and just getting future draft picks. I wouldn't mind trading Lowell to the Yankees for Nick johnson and Juan Rivera. Lee would look good in a Dodger uniform - especially in exchange for a couple of good young arms. I would send Looper to join his cousin if possible. Projected Lineup - Pierre Castillo Pudge Cabrera Rivera Conine Johnson/Stokes Gonzalez Beckett Penny Willis Pavano AJ Fox Bump Urbina (LEFTY!) Any thoughts?
November 3, 200322 yr Author You might be right on Stokes. I expect him to play at Carolina this year. I wouldn't be shocked to see him take the fast track ala DW and Cabs.

If he starts his double-A career as well as Cabs and D-Train did, he'll be up next year, possibly at mid-season if something goes wrong.
November 3, 200322 yr Am I the only one who isn't a big fan of a Lowell/Johnson trade? I am also not a Fan of that Trade :confused
November 3, 200322 yr Am I the only one who isn't a big fan of a Lowell/Johnson trade? I don't like that trade either
November 3, 200322 yr I agree. That trade would suck for us. But we might get Johnson, Rivera, and Heredia so a Lowell for those three guys trade isn't impossible. Also, WE'RE NOT GETTING VLADIMIR GUERRERO.

November 3, 200322 yr Am I the only one who isn't a big fan of a Lowell/Johnson trade? Unless it means Vlad Guerrero (and even then, I would still think about it) this trade should not and will not happen.

Mal here is the projected payroll for my roster: 62,925,000(located in I33) in a way i am assuming we clear enough payroll for Walker, by losing Penny and crew any other questions?
November 3, 200322 yr Hey ramp i got a question, will we get vlad guerrero?lol I'll answer for him..... Yes
November 3, 200322 yr damn it we could have only hide from this s*** so long. now we have to address the s***!!! Bottom line Wagner is a Philiie meaning they just got better by a whole lot. we need to keep the core, but by far that f***ing nuts giving Lowell to the yanks for Nick Johnson and whom eva.... we are smart fans and realize that not everyone will be abck and just cuz they wont doesnt mean its a CAP DUMP... but the 3 guys that are a must is Pudge, Lowell and Uggey...

November 3, 200322 yr A STRAIGHT UP NICK JOHNSON FOR MIKE LOWELL TRADE would be the worst trade in the history of the franchise. who the hell would want a poor defensive, fat, underachiever in the first place? johnson is EXACTLY the wrong kind of guy you want on your team unless you looking to finish in last place. pardon me, I have to go find an air sickness bag now I think I'm gonna hurl....
November 3, 200322 yr Hey ramp i got a question, will we get vlad guerrero?lol I'll answer for him..... Yes I knew that all along,i wasjust shy to say the answer, lol, bring vlad!
November 3, 200322 yr doesnt take a genious to say yo the O"s are going after Vlad, Sheff and Tejeda... they could get 2 outta those 3 guys with the $$$$$ they have left over, not to mention the tigers may go after some big bats as well with dean palmers FAT a** contract outta the way... guys iit should be a intersting off season i am so looking foward to it... the thing with Louie is i know for a fact that we cant comepete with $$$$$ agasnt the yanks... it all depends on what louie whats to do.. be set for life in a NYY uniform or Be happy and for a couple millions $$$ less in a marlins uniform..... but to state the obvious, this is a Biznezz, (Xample) ZO and the Heat!... Heat and Anthony Carter
November 3, 200322 yr No way the Marlins go up to 62 mil. At 62 mil the Marlins would increase payroll by about 20 percent after losing 20 million this year? Plus, your figures for total salary are not "real." When the media repots payrolls they only calculate the cost of the contract per player. They do not add in the extra expenditures asociated with the players. For example health plans, SSI tax, payroll tax, etc... At 62 million soft you are looking at closer to 80 real money.
