January 2, 200917 yr http://cbs5.com/sports/giants.manny.ramirez.2.896827.html Complete MLB Coverage The San Francisco Giants are pursuing free-agent slugger Manny Ramirez and have offered him a four-year deal, a well-connected source told CBS 5. Financial terms of the contract offer were not immediately known. The deal was said by the source to contain incentives for the third year of the contract and a club option for the fourth. In addition, the Denver Post newspaper quoted a Major League Baseball insider as saying the Giants were "quietly making an aggressive play" for Ramirez. The chances of the Giants signing Ramirez, a 36-year-old left fielder, were unclear. A team spokesperson told CBS 5, "it's not happening." The Los Angeles Dodgers recently withdrew a two-year, $45 million offer they presented to keep Ramirez, who helped lift them into postseason play with an NL West title this past season. Dodger officials said the team took their deal off the bargaining table after not hearing back from Ramirez's camp.
January 2, 200917 yr It would be interesting if they signed him. Barry Bond says he wants so play as well. They should sign both of them.
January 2, 200917 yr Manny is great, but a National League team offering him 3 yrs + 1 yr option is a bit crazy. At least if he went to an American League team, he'd have the luxury of DHing.
January 2, 200917 yr That's good the Giants need a hitter more than anyone else. Manny is kind of old but Manny has the ability to be a good player for another 6 years.
January 2, 200917 yr Author Imagine Bonds and Manny on the same team? Do you think there would be room in the dugout for both of those egos?
January 2, 200917 yr I think that having Bonds and Manny in the same clubhouse would be like combining matter and antimatter (meaning: a BIG explosion!).
January 3, 200917 yr I think that having Bonds and Manny in the same clubhouse would be like combining matter and antimatter (meaning: a BIG explosion!). Ya, but if you've finished the season 20 games under .500 why not try it? Whats the worst that happens, they finish 20 games under again?

Ya, but if you've finished the season 20 games under .500 why not try it? Whats the worst that happens, they finish 20 games under again? and it will definitely bring fans out to the ballpark.
January 4, 200917 yr I think that having Bonds and Manny in the same clubhouse would be like combining matter and antimatter (meaning: a BIG explosion!). Ya, but if you've finished the season 20 games under .500 why not try it? Whats the worst that happens, they finish 20 games under again? Neither would be able to play at the same time... unless you planned on putting Manny in RF or somehow teaching Bonds 1B... ugh... that'd be a minefield defensively

January 4, 200917 yr Author I don't see why not. If they are willing to offer him the money that he wants, who is to say it won't work. Heck, money talks in this league. Manny in a Giants uniform is not too far fetched.
