Ok, here we go. Florida lost by 1 point to a team that went on to beat former #1 Texas Tech in their bowl game. Utah's only claims to fame this year are beating BYU and TCU. They also beat a deflated Crimson Tide that had their hearts torn out by UF. UF beat the preseason #1 (Georgia), LSU (#4 at the time), Alabama and Oklahoma. They won the coach's poll, the AP poll, the BCS, and the National Football Writer's polls. Utah going undefeated in the MountainWest is like FAU going undefeated in the Sunbelt and claiming that they should be national champs. You can not like the Gators all you want, but don't make ridiculous comments just to stir up controversy.

:lol

Ok, first of all, TTU was never #1 in the country, and they never deserved to be. They proved to be one of the most overrated teams in the nation by barely beating mid-level teams such as Nebraska, and then losing by 44 to Oklahoma.

Utah's "claims to fame" were not beating TCU and beating BYU, it was going undefeated (the only team to do so) in by far the best non-BCS conference, and a conference that is arguably better than many BCS conferences such as the Big East, Big Televen and the ACC. Then, they traveled a couple-thousand miles to defeat the team that was ranked #1 in every poll for the majority of the season. Alabama, by the way, didn't get their hearts torn out by Florida and they weren't "deflated" either. If you watched the game, you would have known that it was a great game for the most part until the very end.

Please, if you're going to use the nonsense "UF beat the pre-season #1 and #4 teams in the nation", then I guess I can say that FSU was a great team too, seeing as though they beat three pre-season top 15 teams, the pre-season #9 team (Clemson), the pre-season #12 team (Wisconsin), and the pre-season #15 team (VT). Pre-season rankings mean absolutely nothing, as they never do each and every year. Only four teams from the pre-season top ten ended up actually finishing in the top ten, with three of them not even finishing in the top 25.

I'm not even going to respond to the part where you compare the MWC to the Sun Belt. That one is just too ridiculous to even laugh.

The best team in the nation this past season wasn't Florida, and no, it wasn't Utah either, it was USC.

Sorry, Texas Tech was #2. Slipped my mind. As for FSU, seriously, we're having a football conversation. Why are you bringing them up?

What are you, 13? Bashing another school (which happens to be a school with just as much history as UF, if not more), is the exact response I would expect from someone who didn't have anything knowledgeable to say. No logical response, no nothing.

Grow up kid.

Hmmm, I'm the one accused of being childish? I'm not the the one that is childish enough to come up with ridiculous notions as to why the national champs are undeserving. This is exactly the behavior that people have come to expect from the angst ridden FSU fans and alumni. Not only are you getting the worst education in the state, but your football team is going through a bad stretch, which is leading to you getting the blood from your slit wrists all over our good time.

I know im not the guy who should be saying this but

Stay Classy Now,

your starting to sound like a spoiled Yankee fan from the 1990's you won for a few years but when you start to lose its all gonna go downhill.

Classy post...very classy.

Much more classy than the posting of that sad Rick Reilly Utah propoganda. That's the same type of biased garbage that most Marlins fans get tired of reading about their team. This dude might as well be criticizing Loria and our payroll.

You know why you think it's garbage? Because you know it's right.

This is Utah we're talking about. Can you please get real? If they were sooo good, there woulda been a split national champ.

There's really no point in arguing with you, is there?

Everybody knows most of the BCS related voting is a crock and very much a popularity contest. Most recent example (not counting this farce) is Ohio State playing against Texas despite being ranked lower than Boise at the time. OSU was picked because they'd garner more ratings. UF is picked because they're a major school... "No names" like Utah have to have twice the resume a UF or OSU or OU would have to surpass them, rather than just being better.

Utah has one claim no other team does... being undefeated. They can't be shot down for not beating quality teams, they have... they've beaten everyone they've gone up against... much like UF beat LSU (which goes into my "bigger schools getting ranked higher than they should argument"). You can't cite that and not qualify Utah's wins.

The fact is.. they WERE soooo good... they're undefeated, they beat some very quality teams, whereas UF is from the OMGSEC, so they get these phantom quality points that come from reputation and not from performance, these same phantom points that gave LSU their high ranking and Georgia and numerous other examples...

Had UF lost to a ranked team in an away game and run the rest of their table, this wouldn't even be a conversation, it'd be UF... but to lose at home to a pretty mediocre school, regardless of whether it was by one point or 7... it happened. Utah could have faltered at any time and nobody would have held it against them, but they didn't... they don't have a blemish. You can point out UF outranking them in certain Offensive or Defensive rankings, but you only have to rank high enough in those to beat your opponents, something Utah did in a manner unrivaled by any other school in the country... 13/13 - 100%.

You can "Tebow" your way through any argument, but as long as UF has that "1" in their loss column and the nature of that loss is what we know it all to be (at home, to an unranked team) it's the giant blot on superman's cape that can't be dry cleaned.

Only a Gator fan would take it this far. Typical and why no one except the rednecks actually like your fan base. At least you admit in your post above me that you really don't have an argument to this thread and Florida is #2 on the year. Congrats on #2, it's still better than getting beat by coach-less Michigan team.

This is Utah we're talking about. Can you please get real? If they were sooo good, there woulda been a split national champ.

Well Coaches poll is forced to vote for the BCS "champion" so that effects it. Also, in the AP they finished less than 100 points behind. And to be honest, both Utah/USC canceled themselves out. If one of them one and the other loss then you would have a split championship.

Let's examine why Utah went undefeated. Utah plays in a bad conference, that does not have any automatic BCS bids. Utah had a weak out of conference schedule. Utah had a weak conference schedule. Utah beat one team that is half way decent, (Alabama), that many inside the SEC regarded as being overrated due to their own weak schedule. My personal feelings about 'bama aside, the Tide had nothing to play for. Their national championship bid was ended by Florida, and like Florida last year, lost their bowl game due to not having anything to play for and underestimating their opponent.

Be jealous and hate all you want, but Florida walked away with the hardware. The only thing that's a travesty is Tebow not getting the Heisman, despite having the most 1st place votes.

This is Utah we're talking about. Can you please get real? If they were sooo good, there woulda been a split national champ.

Um, UF did lose to a ranked team. Ole Miss was ranked 14/15 in the ESPN/AP poll and 25th in the BCS final polls.

Alabama is not overrated. They are the second best team in the SEC. They beat Ole Miss, and they won at LSU and at Georgia, the next three best teams in the SEC. They also had a lot to play for. They were playing in their first BCS bowl game in a long time, and needed to prove a point. And since when are neither TCU nor Oregon State even "half-way decent"? Can't wait until you try to prove that one.

P.S.- Why is it a travesty that the 4th best QB in the Big 12 didn't win the Heisman? :mischief

When UF lost to them, they were unranked. Get your facts straight.

Be jealous and hate all you want, but Florida walked away with the hardware. The only thing that's a travesty is Tebow not getting the Heisman, despite having the most 1st place votes.

Wow UF Homerism is blinding you, I gotta break out the shades...

Tebow didn't deserve the Heisman, again, the product of "Big School Bias" now, obviously in this case Oklahoma, Texas and to some extent TTU were also involved, but Tebow's been the poster boy for NCAAF since his first ... well, whatever the heck that retarded jumping goal line pass is called, happened. Everybody likes Tebow because he does so much of "the right thing" off the field with the missionary work, but there is zero doubt in any logically thinking human being's mind that Tebow's numbers did not equate to Harrell's, McCoy's or Bradford's...

The Heisman IS NOT an MVP award. The Heisman is an MOP award. The difference between the two is night and day. When it came down to it, Bradford's numbers were absolutely more astounding... though my person opinion is that McCoy's insane completion percentage should have pushed him over the top... So the biggest travesty is that people gave Tebow more first place votes than either of them... or that Harrell wasn't considered at all...

There's no jealousy or hate and the fact that those are the staples of your argument (as well as other things you've said) just display that you're acting like a spoiled 5 year old showing off your new bike at christmas. The only thing is, you shoud have gotten the second best bike, but because you were more popular you somehow managed to get the person who deserved the bike's present... /weird analogy

Look, yes, in the end your school walks away with the hardware, that's not being debated... the fact being debated is that they were not the most deserving. This is akin to the Ronnie Brown pro-bowl debate. Sure, UF should be in the discussion, but they were not the most deserving... that being said, Utah is.

Let's look at some of the "Juggernauts" UF beat..

Hawai'i...

Miami

Tennessee

Arkansas

Vandy

Citadel

South Carolina

Florida's strength of schedule 19

Utah 70

Florida's losses: 1

Utah's losses: 0

They SHOULD have lost any number of games, but they didn't. Please, argue that losing doesn't matter. Please say that UF's loss should be "ignored". The BCS has predicated itself on rewarding teams for not losing. The system is run with the byline "One game can make a difference"... now show me where one game made a difference for UF and where it made a difference for Utah.

It's hypocrisy in action... We'll reward the team that lost and the team that took advantage of an already flawed ranking system by besting overrated teams by taking advantage of their undeserved preseason rankings... but the ONE team in the country that did what the BCS has made a primary team's goal is... gets gipped because we can ignore the hole in superman's cape, but point out that Jimmy Olsen is only human and therefore undeserving

I stopped taking MillerTime seriously when he compared the Mountain West to the Sun Belt, but this latest idea of Alabama having nothing to play for in the Sugar Bowl takes the cake. You are seriously a tool.

One of the worst posts I have ever had the displeasure of reading.

Enjoy your Barry Bonds* like National Championship.

I'm done.

Puma, stop being a douche.

Fish Dynasty, I have my facts straight, which is why I stated that as of the finals polls, this was their finish.

PWG, the best Big 12 defense (Texas), allowed 339.9 yards per game. SEC's best (bama/Tenn) only allowed 263. per. No wonder their QB's had ridiculous numbers. Out of those juggernauts you listed, only Citadel, Arkansas and Tenn didn't play in a bowl game. Let's compare that to Michigan, Utah State, UNLV, Weber State, Colorado state, San Diego State. Pretty obvious they had a softer schedule. Going back to Tebow, by the votes, more people thought he was deserving of the Heisman than any of the Big 12 dudes, as evidenced by the 1st place votes. It's a shame that they make people choose 2nd and 3rd, instead of 2nd being given to the guy with the 2nd most votes. How's that for a flawed system?

Also, schedules are made 4-5 years in advance, so a game with Michigan which hurts SOS now, looked great when they shceduled it. Same with next year, they have games with Louisville and Oregon. We do not know how they are going to be, but 3 or so years ago both teams were NC contenders.

I think MWC has proven that it is legit and it more deserving than other conferences out there.

You bring up Big 12 defense vs SEC defense, thanks for that. Lemme pose this question to you...

Is the Big 12 defense bad because the offenses are so good? Or how about the SEC, are their defenses allegedly good because the offenses suck there, sans FLA?

Also, the reason the voting system is set up the way it is for Heisman voting is to eliminate regional bias. It seems to have done its job.

Also, the reason the voting system is set up the way it is for Heisman voting is to eliminate regional bias. It seems to have done its job.

The Big 12 offenses are good becuase their defense is bad. SEC offenses didn't put up Big 12 numbers due to the great defense in the SEC.

In comparing the three quarterbacks, you can't go strictly on season stats. If so, Tebow couldn't compete with McCoy and Bradford. But if you study the numbers, you see that Tebow is just as effective -- if not more so -- and does it against far better competition

Since McCoy has thrown more than 100 passes than Tebow and Bradford has thrown about 70 passes more than McCoy, we had to find even ground to compare all three. So look at passing yards per pass attempt and touchdown passes per pass attempt.Bradford: 10.1 yards per pass attempt, TD passes on 11 percent of his pass attempts.

McCoy: 9.2 yards per pass attempt, TD passes on 8.5 percent of his pass attempts.

Tebow: 9.4 yards per pass attempt, TD passes on 10.4 of his pass attempts.

Fairly even, right?

Now let's look at how they run the ball, which is a big part of McCoy and Tebow's game.

Bradford: 65 yards, 1.6 yards per rush, 5 TDs.

McCoy: 576 yards, 4.5 yards per rush, 10 TDs.

Tebow: 564 yards, 3.7 yards per rush, 12 TDs.

We just eliminated Bradford in this three-way study.

Now what about the quality of the defenses these quarterbacks performed against? Take the national average of the conference opponents in total defense each QB faced.

Bradford: Big 12 opponent defenses ranked an average of 88.3 nationally.

McCoy: Big 12 opponent defenses ranked an average of 86.9 nationally.

Tebow: SEC opponent defenses ranked an average of 26.2 nationally.

Put another way, the worst SEC defense Florida faced was Arkansas at 73rd. Six of the nine defenses Oklahoma faced were worse than 73rd and six of the eight Texas faced were worse than 73rd.

Add it all up and that's why Tebow should win the Heisman.
