Gaby Sanchez Best Option at First Base

Because of Amezaga's injury, I don't see why we can't carry all three (McPherson, Gaby, Bonifacio) on the 25-man to start the season as sort of an extended spring training. Once Amezaga returns, the situation might be a little more clear and we can choose to send either Gaby or Bonifacio (hopefully the latter) down to the minors.

Just have to accept the fact that Bonifacio will be our opening day 3rd baseman and no one else!

While it seems that way right now there's a week left and if you remember last spring Castillo was the man until VOILA he wasn't. So I think we have to wait before making that pronouncement. It does seem he's in the driver's seat right now and the job is his to lose but a lot can happen in a week.

I feel Bonifacio may start the season as the third baseman, but will lose the job very quickly when McPherson actually gets a couple of starts and proves he is no AAAA player.

I really hope Dallas gets the 3B job and Cantu gets the 1B job. Bonifacio makes more sense for us as a UTIL guy off the bench until Amezaga is healthy.

I guess Bonifacio could get hurt, thats about the only way...The Marlins love his speed and his glove. He makes the lineup a whole lot different. Maybe with Maybin and Bonifacio they stop playing station to station baseball

Eddie... you just need to ACCEPT the fact that 'Bonerface' does not have major league talent and will never be a major leage playy.... oh... wait, he's our starting 3B!

I say jump on the EB bandwagon. I am excited to see what he can do. Others are excited to be right when he fails.

None of us know if Bonifacio is a hit or a miss right now. What we do know and what I have stated is that he will be our opening day 3rd basemen. 2003 was indicating Cantu and the others still had a chance of earning that job. I feel that decision has been made already as indicated by Fred's comments and several assertions by Beinfest himself. If you review to the boxscores Bonifacio is exclusively playing 3rd these days. Some people are logging maybe a few innings there, Cantu not included amongst them. Now I present the question...How could you not believe that on opening day Fredi will not have Emilio Bonifacio in the lineup playing 3rd base? You may question if he will be there long, you may question that Dallas may take his job from him or that Sanchez gets hot and moves Cantu back to third base, however none of that will be happening by opening day

There's a story on the Marlins website regarding Amezaga's speedy recovery and the chance he could be with the team come Opening Day. This of course changes what might have been conventional wisdom regarding the active roster in regards to a number of players.
