with the huge waste at the lead off spot known as emilio bonafacio why wouldnt fredi try ross gload at the one spot.now i know that most lead off hitters have speed but ross gload actually make contact with ball.gload also knows what pitchs to swing at and his plate disipline is ?way better than bonafacio.gload will get on base way more because he can work the count as bonifacio cant.now i dont know if ross gload can play 3rd base but its worth a shot.let me know what you guys think.

This idea is just totally rash and a terrible all around idea. Please think before coming up with dreadful ideas.

explain to me why its a bad idea.what has emilo done in the leadoff spot.he is arguably the worst ?the 3rd baseman in baseball.gload dosent swing at crap in the dirt .you know 9 times out of ten he wont get picked off.

so you want to put a guy who throughout his career has K'd more than he has BB'ed into the leadoff spot???

Better option..Hermida, just that simple. Gload should never even be near that leadoff spot.

Maybe we can have WES HELMS lead off. Seems like something Fredi would do.

I'd rather hanley leadoff or hermida. I'd like to see gload play in the OF and batting lower in the order. Hermida ,baker, hanley is want I would like the top to look like since hanley leading off seems to be outta the question.

and you want a guy whos strike outs have gone up every year he has been in the big leagues to lead off.by the way the only reason he has more ks than walks is because he 3 years he had under 50 at bats.

Have you seen Gload's career? He's been a low OBP guy forever.

You're basing him of this year only, why not Hermida? They, this year they have been ridiculously similar hitters in terms of getting BA/OBP/SLG, so why not go with the one who is faster?

i'll pass. i'd like to see coghlan or hermida leading off.

This doesn't deserve a discussion.

Gload's career OBP is .330 and Hermida's is .347, so either of them may be a better option than Bonifacio

Gload is just about the only player on the Marlins roster who could possibly cause fans to clamor for Bonifacio to be the leadoff hitter if they took Emilio out of the top spot and put Gload there. If Gload were exposed like that, his numbers would tank real quick.

On the topic of Gload, does it bother anyone else but me that when Gload spells Cantu that Fredi inevitably has him hitting cleanup? I cannot tell you how frustrating it is to me to see Gload's name listed on the lineup batting fourth whenever Cantu gets some rest. Just one of a number of things about Fredi Gonzalez that drive me crazy.

The rays had willie aybar in the cleanup spot against us the other day when he started for pena. It happens all of the time.

I think you'd be very hard pressed to find instances of batters with sub-.400 slugging percentages hitting cleanup "all of the time." In fact, if you can find many instances of this outside of the Marlins from say May 10 onward you could color me surprised.

Everyone should have just left this thread when the poster asked whether or not Ross Gload could play third base.

Some managers, like fredi or maddon, don't like shifting the whole order around for spot starts.

This is true, though I think even those managers would make an exception if it meant putting a slap hitter like Gload batting cleanup. And it went beyond the spots starts to when Gload spelled Cantu for a couple of games at a time a few times in from mid-April through early May. To me, it makes about as much sense as Fredi's insistence on batting Bonifacio leadoff.
