So, usually when you see a player's name in a thread title, you think that it's something negative. But, in this case, (as you probably guessed), this is a positive thread. I just thought it'd be nice for us to discuss Hanley who has definitely been our best hitter this season. Some interesting notes here, he is hitting .347 and has 8HR and 26 RBI against RHP, but only .286 with 0HR and 6 RBI. I just thought it was kind of interesting because he has a better career BA against LHP, but has much more power against RHP. I guess it's interesting because his 2009 stats aren't quite consistent with his career numbers. I don't think it's a problem or anything, in fact I think it could be good, although I'm not sure this really means anything.

Some other quick facts: Hanley hit 6HR in May, compared to just 2 total in April and June. If he averaged 6HR a month, he would be on pace to have the best HR year of his career. I like that, because he hasn't leveled off with power in his career. His HR total has increased every year he's been in the bigs. He hasn't been smoking the ball the past two weeks, but hopefully can catch fire again like he did for the large part of May. Hopefully, the team will play better than they did in May though, lol. I'm going to keep looking up his stats, because it's so encouraging knowing that we have him on our team, especially since he signed the extension last year. Now with the ballpark coming and the prospects (you all know who I'm talking about), and of course Hanley and our SP, it makes me much happier than I was about a month ago.

the reason he only had 2 homeruns in april was because he was trying to pull everything and hit a homerun at every at-bat. now he's just trying to make contact and drive in runs which results in better at-bats. as long as he continues to make contact consistantly the homeruns will come without him trying.

NOTE TO OTHER POSTERS: notice how his thread has nothing to do with releasing hermida and saying how much bonifacio sucks.

Hanley is chickentastic.

But Keep Her-Mida.

Oy, pretty that invitation up with a bow and some glitter, why dontcha?

Hanley is only on pace for 20 HR which is down a lot from last year. I can't even remember when he last hit a homer.

Hanley's HR rate at a bulked up 25LBs of muscle is 20.

He hit 30 last year.

I wanna know, is he injured, or should he get caught juicing (ala A-Rod) and come back better.

He's not the same player that earned that extention, thats for sure. He is far from the old hanley, speed wise, power wise.

the only thing thats better is his defense, and the only thing speaking is his mouth (not bat)

So you seriously think that 2009 Hanley is vastly different and inferior to 2008 Hanley? Don't you think you're being a bit hasty? I'd say give it time, man. It's only mid-June and he is by far the best SS in the NL. Thanks to idiotic Brewer fans, that scuz JJ Hardy will probably start for the NL.

Actually, Jimmy Rollins leads the NL SS voting right now by 100,000 votes.

2008 Hanley: .301/.400/.540

2009 Hanley: .330/.395/.519

2009 Hanley is having an off year with his .915 .OPS...as a Shortstop. If only we had other guys having "off years"...

Hanley's fine. It'd be better if he shut the f*** up from time to time, but even if we have to deal with his crap off the field, I'd say that's a fair trade.

Right, which is almost worse b/c while Rollins is a much better player than Hardy, Rollins' 2009 numbers are a joke. Let's get out and vote!
