ESPN is replaying some of the latest homerun derbies. man, watching miguel cabrera hit bombs out of PNC park in the 06 homerun derby makes we wish our front office wasn't so cheap.

 

so far in the 09 homerun derby prince, howard, gonzalez, and pujols have been named as the NL participants. as for the AL only mauer and inge have been announced as participants. i'm kinda suprised mauer is in it but he has shown some power this season even though he missed some games. once the other 2 participants are revealed why doesn't everyone make their predictions on who wins it and how many homers the winner hits in the final round.

Mauer is having his 1st good power season and Inge has some decent power.

 

Nelson Cruz is a good choice though and doesn't Morneau(sp) have to come back for being last years champion?

I believe not. If I remember correctly, Rafael Palmeiro was in the 2004 derby without being on the All Star team.

Yeah, unless you're the past champion. Those are the "rules" now, but there are no real rules.

I love the derby..... until the 2nd round. I wish they would do just 1 round because it just gets boring, plus better guys would be willing to participateif it would take less out of them. The best guys dont even win because they expend so much energy in the first round.

that's really gay. all players should have an opportunity to participate in some part of all-star weekend. it should be like in the nba, if a player is talented in some part of the game (like 3-point shooting, kapono was never an all-star but participated) they should show off their skills in the all-star weekend

everyone will probably choose pujols but i think i'll go with cruz.

In the interest in not going with Pujols, I'll be going with Fielder. Prince has been killing BP pitching since he was 12.
