In order to contend the rest of the season we're going to need another bat. Matt Holliday would be a nice fit, the A's are out of contention and they took him from Colorado for Huston Street, Greg Smith and Carlos Gonzalez last off-season. He would be a mid-season rental, but that could turn out big for us, this would mean we would replace Hermidas' bat with a valuable addition to the lineup. He is being paid $13 million and is a FA after this season.

I don't know if I want Beinfest to spend $5 million and Billy Beane's pick of prospects to add an .800 OPS to this highly flawed team.

If the Marlins are not going to upgrade salaries until after 2012, then they also need a coaching staff that can train the majority of these should-be-minor-leaguers.

We need a closer. Isn't that what the front office has been trying to get (all this bullpen help) and for what? We can't even get to the later innings with leads. When we do it's because we luck out with guys walking in the final runs. This team has had plenty of opportunities to blow games wide open, but they haven't.
