  1. New Orleans and Jacksonville are the best locations for their top minor league teams. They never had any affiliates this close to Miami except for when Charlotte was the AAA team for only two years. They developed pitching while they were in Albuquerque, which is in the same league as New Orleans. I think Loria meant that he is going to upgrade both the Marlins and the farm system and not relocate or change any teams, hopefully.
  2. This question is off the topic slightly: Does anyone know why teams change minor league cities? New Orleans seems to be a good location to have the marlins AAA team (more fanbase hopefuls, and closer to Miami). Speaking of which, they just renewed the contract for another 2 years.
  3. Wow! Samson was right. Loria will make this stadium the most unique and awesome in the world! Nice idea. Really good idea. Hopefully Stanton wont slide into it. However, teal should not be changed. This weekened I watched a game between the Blue Jays and Rays and could not help the feeling of being completely board of watching two teams that have the same colors and basically same style uniforms, not to mention the names. The aquariam is going to be nice though.
  4. I have a question - are you the same person who is paying for ads on facebook that say "Keep it Teal"? Nope.
  5. Since the tax payers of Miami, and city of Miami officials own most of the ballpark we should be deciding the color of the seats, and have imput on the colors of the uniforms. If you really want the seats to be Teal, then contact your city of Miami government and let them know. If anyone knows how to contact these individuals please feel free to respond.
  6. I say black, sliver, and a dark blue (like the blue on a sword fish, not Mets muts blue..) Why not just stay with the colors they have? That is colors they began with, and that is the way it is supposed to be. Eventhough the Padres have changed uniforms many times, they were able to incoporate the color they have always used into the current uniforms.
  7. Can't we just have normal looking seats!!!? im sick of being able to spot out an empty seat from 400 yards away. The teal is a background color. It adds to the marlin fan sitting next to an empty seat. NOT a big deal. Orange is a big deal. But, yeah the seats are going to be blue, so all the fans will blend, except for the fans of teams that are red. Then again, many of the teams that use red also have blue. Loria must have thought this one out for a while.
  8. I think part of the reason you don't see more Marlins hats on the street is because it isn't a good hat. I like the "F logo" but I think it only works as a patch or a generic logo on other merchandise. It's just not a good logo for a hat. It's too complicated and has too much stitching. I bet you don't see too many people wearing Blue Jays or Orioles hats either. I see the Orioles hat like crazy up here (Gainesville), and it's the completely stupid one with the bird on it. I don't understand how people wear that, but not the Marlins hat.... I dont know if the answer would be that Florida is a big state, almost the size of a few small states combined. Also, there are so many teams here, so people who live outside of South Florida are most likely not going to like south florida teams. So if fans in Miami wear other team hats, then fans outside of the area are most likely going to wear something else, especially fans who are transplants.
  9. These pictures are great. Its really nice to see life around the stadium, rather than just a huge empty parking lot. Kind of reminds me of how Fenway Park is situated within the narrow streets of the surrounding neighborhood. I have a feeling that this place is going to be inviting. A buddy and I decided to go fishing around local canals and lakes in search of tarpon and snook. We went to a few old spots I haven't fished in over a year, and I found my self near the stadium with my camera (Nikon D3000). So I made my friend drive me by to snap a few pics from the passenger side of the truck. I probably should have been in the bed as he drove me around but that seemed like too much work. Enough rambling, here are a few of the pics. There was a lot of local traffic so we couldn't really stay stopped too long to get "the shot". It was crazy already seeing some of the stair cases for the bleachers.
  10. There is a much more "in city" feeling to the new location I must add... unlike that of the BankAtlantic Center or Dolphinwhatever Stadium. It seems so unnatural and unwelcoming to visit those venues. While I understand the AA is in the heart of downtown Miami as well... even it's being on the water gives you an empty feeling lol. But not so much as the other two at all. 100% correct. Couldn't of said it better.
  11. They don't need to be "mass appeal". They need to appeal to fans in South Florida. People will buy stuff regardless of what color it is. I'm not saying they need to sell all teal shirts and caps, obviously people wouldn't buy a lot of that because the only place you'd probably wear it is the ballpark. But teal is a South Florida color and it works well. The look they had from 97-2002, black first, teal second, is the perfect mix to give the team a local flavor without going over the top with color. They don't need to be a good team for people to buy their merchandise. Case and point the Washington Nationals. They've always sucked, and I still see people on the streets, rappers on tv, etc. wearing the stupid curly "W" hat because it's simple and has mass appeal. I like the teal, but fact is most people don't and that's why It's not often you'll run into someone wearing Marlins attire outside of Hialeah. Seriously, I asked a guy at Foot Locker why they only had Yankees and Nationals hats. He said the Nationals hats sell like crazy. It was the weird W one. Ok. The colors they have now are good. The only thing that should be changed is the pinstripes. Anything that reminds people of the Yankees shall be removed. Also teal fans are most likely going to have to live with the dark blue seats. In the AC, the dark seats may seem cool. Also, more people will buy merchandise when the name Miami is on there. Florida is kind of dorky.
  12. It will take longer than projected because they will have to remove all those royal blue seats and replace with the correct color. They are going to realize that they put the seats in for Mets fans to blend in and not the Marlins mini-nation (Loria's mistake...New York guy at heart.....hahahaha).
  13. Friends, if we go Orange and Black, will we not look like the Orioles? And Halloween? If we go Orange and black we will look just like the Giants and the Orioles, and yes Halloween. Hell, we should just go red! Tommy Hutton answered an email the other night regarding seat and team color. He said that no other baseball team has that "sea blue" color. Maybe I am color blind, but I thought I saw the very same color seats in the Blue Jays stadium, and the Rays stadium. The darker teal that were in the earlier rendings seemed to be fine. It wasn't to pastel or bright, and easy to look at. And as far as Teal being an unmarketable color, I guess then the Dolphins stuff doesn't or never sold well?? As you can see there are differences in the types of Blue. However, I also disagree with Sampson and Loria. I think the Teal or some version of it, should be used instead of blue. There are many temas that use blue in many sports and it is too common. The teal has a definate miami/ south florida feel to it and is a very unique color. They are missing the big picture and looking to much at the project as some type of abstract art work. They need to do what they did in St. Louis and listen to the fans/costumers who are paying for it and lose their ego's. I cant help responding to this topic. Eventhough there are other important topics to discuss about the team.... If sea blue seats are going to be the color, then hopefully it will match the sea blue color that is on that example and not the royal or cobalt blue that they keep trying to say is the best color.
  14. http://www.miamihera...ry/1212037.html Norman Braman's suit on Florida Marlins stadium in appeals court BY CHARLES RABIN [email protected] The Third District Court of Appeal will hear brief oral arguments Tuesday on Norman Braman's attempt to halt the already-under-construction stadium for the Florida Marlins in Little Havana. Braman was shut out in summer 2008 in his legal attempt to force a public referendum on the use of public money to help build the $609 million ballpark and parking structures and his belief that $50 million in bond referendum money could not be used toward construction without a public vote. The auto dealer lost on all counts to the county, city and team. He appealed. Tuesday's oral arguments before the three-judge panel will be heard at the law school at Florida International University's main campus on Southwest 107th Avenue and Eighth Street. Each side will be given 10 minutes to state its case in a hearing scheduled for 9:30 a.m. No ruling is expected for weeks. I really just want this A-hole to go away. Either way, the construction is underway and Braman has no chance of winning this case on appeal. I hope when he loses again in court, the Marlins, County, and City sue him to re-coup their court costs. Eventhough the Marlins, county and city will not waste any more time on this toolbox, they should recoup the court costs anyway. I still think Braman is doing this to keep his name and ugly photo out in the public so people will go buy his crappy cars.

  17. Bring back the name "Miami Stadium". Or even better use the name park instead of stadium. The name park sounds like a place where baseball is played..... while stadium sounds like a huge place for football kinda like the stadium that the Marlins play in now. I guess stadium works for the Yankees, but the name park is better for teams like the Marlins, Red Sox, (Field for Cubs), etc.....
  18. If they made the seats teal oh my, that would be dirty There is a reason I think the seats are that blue color. Expect to be buying new hats, jerseys and other team stuff, because that blue could very well be part of a new color scheme for the team. But I love the Teal and Black! If we go to silver blue and black we will look like the damn rays The color will stay blue. The Marlins will have a completely new color scheme. It is part of their re-launch of the franchise. It is more difficult to market greens, yellows, and purples than it is for blues, reds, and blacks. It is simply a numbers game for the team. It is too bad because I love the teal also, and I think it makes us unique. BULLS#!T! Colors go in and out of style. Usually the name of the city effects the marketing. Anaheim vs. LA.... Kenmore Square vs. Boston...... Boca Raton vs. Miami
  19. Real closers are pitchers who can enter the game in any inning and be LIGHTS-OUT. Lindstroms fast ball might be scarry, but he is not that scarry and far from lights-out. In 04, Benitez was a good example of a closer. Papelbon is a closer. Lindstrom will always be just a reliever.
  20. Nunez is getting it done, and its too late to trade.
  21. That's heresy to me, my friend. SCS was like my second home till the fish abandonned it. I loved the the teal seats, as I would love tthem in the new stadium. However, the focus should be what's happening on the field and not in the stands, so a neutral dar kcolor probably is best. Yes, but there's nothing neutral or dark about that bright ass royal blue they have in the renderings. ...and especially since it will blend in with Mets and Braves fans, and the rest of the teams in the league that are blue.
  22. That looks like sh*t. Reminds me of Space Coast Stadium... That's heresy to me, my friend. SCS was like my second home till the fish abandonned it. Yes, but there's nothing neutral or dark about that bright ass royal blue they have in the renderings. That blue reminds me of looking into Tropicana Field when the Rays were the Devil Rays.

I loved the the teal seats, as I would love tthem in the new stadium. However, the focus should be what's happening on the field and not in the stands, so a neutral dar kcolor probably is best. Well your rite. However, eventhough the team is going to make small moves, the focus is going to be on the stadium until it opens. At least anything involving a large salary would not be possible..... that is what the front office has made clear. Does anyone know how many petitions the Cardinals got in order to change their stadium seat color?
  24. The last rendering of seats were blue. They were blue at groundbreaking, and blue on the latest renderings on the website. I think you are refering to the painting that was shown on the left field wall.
