Was anyone watching the game last night when they showed sketches of the new ball park? To me it looked like the seats were teal, which I know had to be wrong from the other renderings we've seen. Wasn't quite sure what was going on with that. The last rendering of seats were blue. They were blue at groundbreaking, and blue on the latest renderings on the website. I think you are refering to the painting that was shown on the left field wall. I sent an email to David Samson and he actually responded. He said they he is assuring me that the seats look better blue and not teal. He said that teal did not go with the architecture. To bad that he is ridiculously incorrect.

Is that a raised field I see? (That is the seats are slightly below field level). And protected from foul balls by glass-like panels? Great idea. Gives the rich folks an interesting view. Maximizes space too. Thats cool. It looks like the seats may be below ground level, and possibly at the same level as the dugout floor.

Digging it so much! I was going to go to the groundbreaking but had family over here (went to bed at 7am... should have just stayed up and gone... *sniffs*) Anyway, I like the blue seats, I would have hated them in teal or black or something like that. Blue or Green, that' s fine with me. ANyone know more about the "water feature" at center? And yes, there is a picture of baseball played in the Orange Bowl. A black and white. I'll see if I can dig it up. They would never do black, but I for one think that if you are going to build a new stadium for specific baseball team, the seats should match the team color. But Loria is probably going to unveil the all-orange Miami Marlins at some point anyway. Hopefully not that. We dont need any reminders of the Orioles, or Mets. However, if they do maybe they will use the original Miami Marlins uniform. That would be OK I guess. Or they may use some kind of Teal/Blue/White combination. The Padres seem to have colors similar in uniform and in the seats. Seeing that Loria is an art evaluator, hopefully this will be interesting.

What cracks me up about this team is that they make players play positions that they did not play in the minor leagues. Dont think its a good idea, the idea sucks! Uggla should not move to 3rd, and if anything they should add another American to the infield. Nothing against Cantu, Bonafacio or especially Ramirez or any other heritage. Sanchez could possibly fit in as part of the future infield. Also, they should promote relief pitchers to starters from the major league level rather than promote some no name from AA or AAA to make the never-ending emergency starts. Matt Lindstrum is not a closer, and should not return as the closer. He would be an ideal setup man though. To bad they did not resign Lee Gardner. At least Gardner had 30 minor league saves the year before he was promoted to the Marlins. I have no idea what compels people to not only have thoughts like that, but to also articulate them in print, and then to post said articulation in a public forum.... It was a stupid thing to say. OK. But I do think there is a lot a baseball talent across this country and for some reason many of those players end up on other teams.

I forgot getting players from different heritages was the difference maker in making teams better. That made no sense. 2. With his #'s this year, Matt Lindstrom is not the closer. Matt Lindstrom is not the setup man. At this point, Lindstrom would be fortunate to make the team, even if he comes back strong b/c truthfully, none of our relievers deserve a demotion, as of right now. 3. Lee Gardner's are replaceable. I'd say the Marlins have already proven this, so I won't go into further detail. I just think there is a lot of talent in colleges and high schools across this country and regardless of background.

Sanchez is the next Mike Lowell. In fact, he will be better than Bonafacio if given the chance.

We need several consistant bats, and an entire consistant pitching staff (with the exception of Josh Johnson). If the Marlins are not going to upgrade salaries until after 2012, then they also need a coaching staff that can train the majority of these should-be-minor-leaguers. Joe Girardi was the answer.

I wonder if management will have anything somewhere in the new ballpark regarding history of baseball in Miami, and History of the Orange Bowl. It would be kinda cool to see something like a picture of the August 7th, 1956 Miami Marlins game played at the Orange Bowl. However not sure it would have anything to do with the current Marlins. Does anyone know if there is any footage or pics of that game?

Why are they waiting till then? I'm no construction expert, but probably because they still have to finish the prep work before they can start the foundation. If you look at the webcam, they are still digging up ground and I'm guessing laying down pipes or wires, or anything else they have to bury. I think they said we would be able to see the foundation for the roof by the fall. My guess is that they are removing old rusty sewage pipes and old electrical wiring that has been in the ground since the 30's and adding new stuff.

....That we aren't going to have a real teal monster or bermuda triangle in the new park (at least from what I've seen on the renderings). I actually liked those features in DS a lot, it added character to the playing field. While the stadium itself looks great, especially those outfield seats (which is probably where the poor folks like me would end up sitting), I'm gonna miss the way that having the monster and triangle added to the game and to our home field advantage. In an unrelated note, I just noticed the emphasis Samson put on Miami Marlins in the groundbreaking. We all know its coming, but its still weird to hear them call the team that officially. There are those people that think the park should include things like the (teal)green monster or presidents running a race on the field, because it has been done in other ballparks for other teams. The Marlins have an identity and history, and that should be recognized. What I am disappointed in is the color of the inside the stadium. It seems rather dark and out-of-character for the hot humid Miami climate and team with the Teal colors. The seats should be the color that are in the April renderings. I hope they do not change their uniform to that color. Most people that were in the stands on Saturday were dressed in some shade of the Marlins teal. In reality, I really dont care. All that matters is that there will be a baseball stadium with MLB baseball inside it, and hopefully for more than 30 years.

They should transfer the name "Landshark Stadium", and give free beer to the first ### of fans to enter the gates. That beer is actually really good.

How about no more Mermaids and Manatees? Real baseball teams don't resort to such unconventional and nontraditional marketing tactics. Honestly, I dont mind looking at the mermaids. Marlins are a new team compared to the Red Sox or Cubs. New times mean new ideas..

I hope that there is plenty of leg-room between the seat I will be sitting in, and the one in front of me. The current seats seem to get closer together as they get closer to the field.

Although there is nothing but positives out of this particular ruling, why did she have to leave one last detail hanging? She's waiting on the Florida Supreme Court to rule on a case which might apply to this one. Why does she have to wait for that ruling??? What does that have to do with what happens here?????

Dallas McPherson and Cameron Maybin would both be sent back to the minors for sure. :confused

There should be more rally's. Probably more people would be able to hold up signs and have a bigger rally in front of Dolphin Stadium before and after every game, especially those that are drunk. I dont know if it would make much of a difference, but the media is always there. Yes and of course in front of the courthouse would be a great idea as well. :mischief
