BTW, the Marlins are 4rd best OPS overall, 2nd with men on, 4th with RISP, 4th with RISP and 2 outs, and 3rd with bases loaded. Based upon that I would submit to you that Strikeouts don't really matter much to the Marlins offense at all. So our LOB isn't adversly affected (except in that double plays don't add to LOB)

July 15, 200818 yr How can it calculate RBI's? That's almost entirely based on your teammates. Haha, good point.
July 15, 200818 yr I don't see the accuracy of these calculations. As some poster already said...RBI's as well as runs scored (which is not shown) are team-oriented stats. Also, the pitchers are much tougher in MLB, and the altitude (in McPherson's case) is a lot different, if he indeed comes down here to hit in the "football stadium." It's like a prediction...and it doesn't even seem reasonable.
July 15, 200818 yr The numbers are hypothetical. I've looked at MLEs for years and they are what they are - some come very close some not close at depending on circumstances, the player and his experence at this level and facors far beyond formulaic number crunching. You should have seen Hanley's MLE when he came into the league in 2006 What the formula couldn't factor in was he being a tremendously talented young man who was bored to tears in MiLB and his play reflected as much. I always loved Hanley's remark about know he'd make it to the majors - (paraphrasing) "I knew I'd make it. The Red Sox had me penciled into the lineup in 2015." Personally, I think in McPherson's case motivation, age and MLB experience play a major factor here that's not quantifiable. Unquestionably, if you've listened to game on the (internet) radio he's not just hitting homeruns, he's hitting mammoth shots that wow even his teammates. John Gall said he should be paying admission just like the fans in the stands to watch him hit. And people keep forgetting the 'Topes do not play the really high elevation teams with much frequency. Their division plays most of their games east and in some cases on the eastern seaboard far away from the Colorados and Salt Lake City teams that most people think of as the PCL.
