July 15, 201115 yr Loria said he's planning changes after season for minor league system #Marlins -Joe Capozzi I have no idea what this means.
July 15, 201115 yr Maybe he's gonna buy 5 18U teams from the Latin countries and restock the talent. Who knows.
July 15, 201115 yr As long as it involves the Greensboro team still being a part of the Marlins system then whatever is fine with me.
July 15, 201115 yr If it involves no longer having a AA Jacksonville, i'm gonna be pissed! :thumbdown
July 15, 201115 yr They need to move these minor league teams closer to Miami. I'd love to have all that can be in Florida to actually be in Florida.
July 15, 201115 yr I could see having your triple A team closer to home, but your single A guys being elsewhere doesnt seem like it would affect the organization negatively. For a team like Greensboro, I dont know how far the agreement extends to. Does money transfer hands to the Marlins from the Grasshoppers?
July 15, 201115 yr Based on the article on ESPN.com, I would assume he is talking about upping the draft budget, not changing the location of the minor league affiliates.
July 15, 201115 yr Just read the Article on the Marlins front page. Loria specifically mentioned not having players in the minors when needing. Pretty much says that we need depth in the minors, or maybe he isnt satisfied with the staff.
July 15, 201115 yr They need to move these minor league teams closer to Miami. I'd love to have all that can be in Florida to actually be in Florida. The big league team doesn't get may fans in Miami, why would they move other teams closer? They already have three teams in Florida! At every level that they could have a team in Florida, they already do. Their AAA is the furthest east team in the Pacific Coast League. Their low A team is the closest league they could be in. Aside from Jamestown, all of their teams are closely located and even that is the nearest short season A league they could be in. As for changes he may mean moving teams, but as Loria owns the Jupiter franchise the Hammerheads aren't going anywhere, the rest could be reshuffled, but I think most have contracts through 2012.
July 16, 201115 yr Add another rookie level team in the Appy or Pioneer league, new AA and AAA teams plz. It sucks they own the Hammerheads as well. They get what...500 people at the games and its a league very hard on hitters.
July 17, 201115 yr I like the New Orleans franchise, better than anything we ever had before, which in of itself rally isn't saying much
July 17, 201115 yr I like the New Orleans franchise, better than anything we ever had before, which in of itself rally isn't saying much theres nothing wrong with new orleans, its the teams they play on the road. it is impossible to develop any kind of good pitching in that league.
July 19, 201115 yr New Orleans and Jacksonville are the best locations for their top minor league teams. They never had any affiliates this close to Miami except for when Charlotte was the AAA team for only two years. They developed pitching while they were in Albuquerque, which is in the same league as New Orleans. I think Loria meant that he is going to upgrade both the Marlins and the farm system and not relocate or change any teams, hopefully.
