yeah after a good 6 or so starts in June Andrew's now had four stinkers in a row. It just sucks. Even if he were in the bigs with Vostad numbers I could at leave live with it, we'd be getting SOMETHING out of him. But this is just dreadful. Early reports of his redesigned delivery sounded optimistic, and the guy can still hit 97 on the gun, but apparently the new motion hasn't really clicked. You hate to totally give up on the guy though. Sigh.... Man a couple years ago I had high hopes of having a big dominant lefty in the rotation. So much for that. Not much in the way of lefty prospects in the system either. Hopefully Brad Hand keeps making strides. I probably wouldn't be opposed to bringing up Miller and giving him some starts down the final month, give him another few shots to step it up against the big guys. Whatever. Exactly, it's not like his contract isn't up at the end of the year. If he can show any value at the MLB level then we could resign him if not then tough he probably won't pan out. His contract is up, but since he has not had 6 years of MLB service time, he is still property of the Florida Marlins, the same way Mike Stanton's contract is up at the end of the year, but the Marlins still have Stanton for 6 more seasons. Miller doesn't have any more options, so if the Marlins tender him a contract in December he has to make the team or get traded in Spring Training. His 2011 salary will be about $1.05 million. So do you bring him up if September and if he fails non-tender him? I think send him to the instructional league, then AFL, to give him more innings before you need to make a decision whether to non-tender or not.
