fanofthefish
Villaneuva looked good yesterday, I don't recall seeing any pitches faster than 94, but he had sharp command of the strike zone. Rottino's double was a ground rule one that would have plated two as the runner was almost to home plate when the ball went into the stands. That would be much better than I expected from what I've read hear.

The advanced A ball factor is a terrible idea and they are not trading him, especially since he'll be really cheap to resign next season if they want to resign him. I really feel that we should call him up when the roster expands in September. We are basically out of the playoff race and some do better then others at different levels in Baseball, there's not much else you can do with the kid. FTLMarlinsFan
Is A Miller out of options after 2010? Can they send him to the AFL? He needs more innings, bringing him up to sit on the bench in Sept makes no sense to me. Instructional league, then AFL.

He won't be sitting on the bench in the MLB he'll be pitching that's the only way he can benefit from this. If he sucks then we know he's not going to be anything special, if he does well then we have something good going for the kid. His contract is up this season and I don't know about options. Hotcorner
yeah after a good 6 or so starts in June Andrew's now had four stinkers in a row. It just sucks. Even if he were in the bigs with Vostad numbers I could at leave live with it, we'd be getting SOMETHING out of him. But this is just dreadful. Early reports of his redesigned delivery sounded optimistic, and the guy can still hit 97 on the gun, but apparently the new motion hasn't really clicked. You hate to totally give up on the guy though. Sigh.... Man a couple years ago I had high hopes of having a big dominant lefty in the rotation. So much for that. Not much in the way of lefty prospects in the system either. Hopefully Brad Hand keeps making strides. I probably wouldn't be opposed to bringing up Miller and giving him some starts down the final month, give him another few shots to step it up against the big guys. Whatever. Exactly, it's not like his contract isn't up at the end of the year. If he can show any value at the MLB level then we could resign him if not then tough he probably won't pan out.
