yeah after a good 6 or so starts in June Andrew's now had four stinkers in a row. It just sucks. Even if he were in the bigs with Vostad numbers I could at leave live with it, we'd be getting SOMETHING out of him. But this is just dreadful.

Early reports of his redesigned delivery sounded optimistic, and the guy can still hit 97 on the gun, but apparently the new motion hasn't really clicked. You hate to totally give up on the guy though.

Sigh.... Man a couple years ago I had high hopes of having a big dominant lefty in the rotation. So much for that. Not much in the way of lefty prospects in the system either. Hopefully Brad Hand keeps making strides.

I probably wouldn't be opposed to bringing up Miller and giving him some starts down the final month, give him another few shots to step it up against the big guys. Whatever.

Exactly, it's not like his contract isn't up at the end of the year. If he can show any value at the MLB level then we could resign him if not then tough he probably won't pan out.

dude, you have literally no idea what you are saying. his contract isnt up at the end of the year.

His contract is up, but since he has not had 6 years of MLB service time, he is still property of the Florida Marlins, the same way Mike Stanton's contract is up at the end of the year, but the Marlins still have Stanton for 6 more seasons. Miller doesn't have any more options, so if the Marlins tender him a contract in December he has to make the team or get traded in Spring Training. His 2011 salary will be about $1.05 million. So do you bring him up if September and if he fails non-tender him? I think send him to the instructional league, then AFL, to give him more innings before you need to make a decision whether to non-tender or not.

Imagine the reaction if we give up on Miller then he finds immediate success with another organisation

If that happens, then the Miggy trade just wasn't meant to work out for the Marlins.

Why don't the Marlins just give up on Miller as a starter, and just try and see if he can pitch in the late innings out of the bullpen? I'd like to see him out of the pen in September facing some lefties to see what he can do.

It's gotta be tough to hit him as a left-handed hitter late in ballgames, when he's coming in throwing with max effort (96-97 mph)...how many left-handed relievers can do that? I can only think of Thornton and Kuo and those two guys are awesome.

Let him pitch out of the pen, and see if he feels more comfortable in that role or something.

It's gonna be incredibly hard to hit him if he can't find the strike zone :$

If we wanted a lefty who couldn't find the strike zone in the bullpen, Renyel Pinto would still be on this team.

miller would be worse then pinto. exactly the opposite of what you dont want from a reliever. he cant throw strikes.

That's what I've been saying for about 2 years now.

Bullpen guy, not exactly a LOOGY but a lefty out of the pen in the later innings.

Like a Sean Marshall?

If he can find any sort of consistency then yes like Marshall who also spot starts like Miller hopefully can.

I mean we are pretty much out of it so why not try him out in the Pen in September.

f***ing A... If Miller ends up being a LOOGY...

It'd help the team, obviously, because he's sh*t as a starter now - but my dreams of seeing him dominate will be crushed.

He probably won't be just a LOOGY but the possibility of him being just a Reliever is very high.

I really wanted him to succeed aswell and be that dominant 2 or 3 starter in the rotation but if he can be added to the bullpen as a guy who can shut it down for an inning or two I'd be all for it.

he wont stick in the majors. the guy cant throw strikes and that sh*t wont work up here. i think it is really pathetic to bring him up now after what he's done this season and i guarentee you he is awful like always.

miller has been terrible against both lefties and righties this year so he isnt a loogy or a roogy, he is a sh*tty pitcher.

Now he gets called up and finishes the season with a 0.55 ERA.

Maybe he'll be like Maybin....plays well at the end of the year but plays like crap when he's on the opening day roster.

Maybe he'll find more success as a relief pitcher. Miller over 6 innings can be pretty damn bad, but he can usually have a decent inning or so.

Yeah and he usually sucks after the 2nd if he doesn't get wild by then.
