Detroit looks to reunite with former Tiger Cody Ross...

Featured Replies

Cody has become a bit of a fan favorite here. If we do trade him, I doubt it will be to Detroit. Maybe a Cody/Uggla or Cody/Hermida package to a team for a top bat or starter?

Yeah fan favorite and sexiest Marlin player.

Sorry had to throw that out.

LMAO! Any more outbursts Bruno?

I hope we keep cody, he gives us 110% every game. i remmeber at an exhibition practice at dolphin stadium the day before the season started, they interviewed him on the big screen and he said lets go out there and win us a world series....i like his attitude. now if the marlins play their cards right we can still win the WC, heck the division as well with the up and down phillies

The article is just pure speculation. There's no indication that such talks have taken place or are taking place.

Having said it, I wouldn't dismiss such a trade outright. While Cody has been a better hitter than I ever expected him to be, he has the same holes and flaws as Uggla. I think Cody just endears himself to fans so much because he gives the appearance of "playing 110 percent". Fans love that sort of thing, even if its largely irrelevant to success.

He also seems like hes actually having fun all the time like Fredo which i also think fans like.

And the fact that he is the complete underdog. He stands 5-foot-8 on a good day and has 30-homer power, the most unlikely of players to pose that kind of threat. He was told his entire career, you're too small or this or that and overcame all of that. He doesn't seem to take one day in the major leagues for granted, and takes pride in being humble. I'd hate to see the guy go...

Cody is a difference maker on defense. And he seems to come up big in big time situations (not all the time, but he has his moments). Both he and Uggla are hit or miss, but Uggla really hasn't seemed to get on a reasonable hot streak all year while Cody goes on tears where he wins games single handedly.

Somebody earlier mentioned a return similar to what Mclouth got. I'm not sure I'd be satisfied with that. The Cabrera trade showed us that quantity is no substitute for quality, and receiving 3 C prospects who aren't going to be difference doesn't really benefit us.

Ross for Miggy straight up. We pay Ross's salary and Detroit pays miggy. We both get our players back.

Ross has really grown on me and I would be sad to see him go but if we got something that could really help us then do it. What does detroit have in their farm system?

You just made my nipples hard!

:whistle
