It was Hermida, Tank, and Coghlan.

-That created a stumbling block because the Pirates were determined to get four youngsters/prospects they wanted. This is why things were so close. Florida agreed to part with outfielder Jeremy Hermida and then made a prospect list available from which Pittsburgh could pick one. That list was highlighted by second baseman Chris Coghlan and first baseman Gaby Sanchez. However, the Pirates were insisting on either Ryan Tucker or Mike Stanton. The Marlins said no and the Red Sox refused to sweeten their prospect booty. And that is how the Marlins fell out of this.

We were trying to offer an average deal, the reason the deal didn't get done was because we wouldn't offer a Mike Stanton or a Ryan Tucker (who, at the time was very highly regarded).

The point Ernesto is that the Pirates and Red Sox never went into the deal and said "Oh, you guys can get Manny if you are willing to offer us Hermida, hell you don't need to give up Stanton or Tucker". The deal was turned down because the Marlins WERE NOT WILLING TO DEAL STANTON OR TUCKER!

did i ever say we didin't need to give tucker? lol i only said stanton........even people on the last page confirmed they heard it too when sampson said WE WERE CLOSE TO GETTING MANNY WITHOUT GIVIN UP STANTON. idk whats so hard to understand from that? lol

You know the problem with your philosophy? The fact that we WEREN'T CLOSE to gett Manny without giving up Stanton. It even states in the link that as soon as Stanton got mentioned in the trade discussions that the Marlins ended all discussions with the Pirates and Red Sox, that simple. Man you need to read the links posted before responding.

No, we were close. It was basically a done deal and then the Pirates pulled out because they started demanded Stanton.

I'd rather not. I feel my brain cells are too valuable to lose by listening to that.
