August 5, 200917 yr Ernesto, if the Marlins could have gotten Manny Ramirez without trading Stanton, Hermida would not be a Marlin right now.
August 5, 200917 yr Sucks to be Nick Johnson, he cant be a winner on any side when Marlins-Nationals go at it.
August 5, 200917 yr Ernesto, if the Marlins could have gotten Manny Ramirez without trading Stanton, Hermida would not be a Marlin right now. thats what i thought....sampson said i forgot what team pulled out and went for the deal with the dodgers, if sampson is lying or not i cant control that lol if there is a way to look up past interviews on 790 then you can listen to it yourself
August 5, 200917 yr Ernesto, you are quoting the same guy who said the Marlins phones were dead silent the day before the deadline this year and that no deal was even close to being done. Again not even close to a reliable source.

Again not even close to a reliable source. Yea, I know...i didn't believe it when Sampson said it either but maybe the dude is actually telling the truth for once lol
August 5, 200917 yr Rox and Giants win today, so we are 4 game behind to WC race. 5 behind division, correct?
August 5, 200917 yr Anyway still not worried about tonight. I mean like I said we stole 3 games from the Nats, the Nats deserve to get at least one back in return. Hopefully tomorrow Vandy can give us a quality start and the bats can really come to life.
August 5, 200917 yr Too bad Lindstrom didn't pitch we could have blamed it on him. Fredi you are absolutely horrible! :lol
August 5, 200917 yr Samson did say that, I heard it 2... I also heard sampson say we were gonna get manny last year without giving up Stanton but with about 6 min left the Sox choose the deal with the dodgers. Wheather it's true or not I don't know.
August 5, 200917 yr the loss doesnt hurt as much anymore....at the moment it happened it did lol. but 5 behind division and 4 behind WC, road to october guys lets do it!!!!!

August 5, 200917 yr I just don't think this team is a true contender... Neither are the Rockies or Giants imo, but they are currently leading the wild card. This is the year when you really do not have to be a playoff caliber team in the NL to get into the playoffs.
August 5, 200917 yr Author I just don't think this team is a true contender... Maybe, maybe not. But it never hurts to have faith.
August 5, 200917 yr I just don't think this team is a true contender... my dad feels the same way....thing is i always have this big faith in the marlins since i was a kid no matter how bad we are doing i always have faith...lol. lets hope this team surprises you and me both

August 5, 200917 yr I think we're a playoff team. But, I doubt we get deep into the playoffs if we do make it.
August 5, 200917 yr I think we're a playoff team. But, I doubt we get deep into the playoffs if we do make it. i dont want our undefeated playoff record to end
August 5, 200917 yr just got back from the hospital. broke my hand after punching the wall following Dunn's 2 run shot. Worst lost of the year.
August 5, 200917 yr I just don't think this team is a true contender... I know we have plenty of weak spots in our team but I'm curious as to why you think this.

I'm like you though always thinking they're gonna come back.
August 5, 200917 yr I just don't think this team is a true contender... I know we have plenty of weak spots in our team but I'm curious as to why you think this. I actually stated in the trade deadline thread that if I was Beinfest, I wouldn't have made a trade. Fortunately, we didn't have to give up much for Nick Johnson...a player I've always been a fan of. Anyways, back to the point. I still see major flaws in this team. We have a questionable 4th starter. I still don't trust Vanden Hurk, at all. He pitched well against a really weak SD lineup in a great pitcher's park, gave us a 5 inning performance in LA (which I still think he got a bit fortunate in), and dominated ATL (but ATL is a team he's always owned, for some reason). We also don't even know who our 5th starter is. Granted, most teams backend of the rotation is nothing to brag about, but it's not as bad as the situation we have right now. I'm afraid that those 2 spots are going to lack giving us innings, which will, somewhat, tire out the pen, as well, over the course of the year (and right now...we don't have our long reliever to eat those innings, either...Sanches has done an admirable job, but Hopper is much better suited for that role b/c he has more experience as a starter/giving innings). Also...it's August. I'm unsure whether or not our lineup is going to start meeting expectations. To be honest...that's the only way we will make the playoffs, imo. Uggla and Hermida have to start performing to expectations, and Jorge Cantu, imo, needs to start producing some HR power, again. I think this team still needs a power bat. As for the playoffs...I'd actually say we'd be better suited for the playoffs than the regular season, at this point. You don't need your 4th and 5th starters, in the playoffs. In a short series (if we were to get there), we'd be tough, considering the fact that JJ has been one of the more consistent pitchers in baseball, and Nolasco is back to pitching very well, again. Volstad can match up against opponents #3's, and capable of giving quality starts, as well. And our pen (with the starters giving innings) is a good pen, as has been seen. Pretty deep, too.
