Twins acquire Pavano

Featured Replies

He's going to make $2-2.5 million the rest of the year.

Salary matters.

From Rotoworld:

Twins acquired RHP Carl Pavano from the Indians for a player to be named.

Pavano is owed about $500,000 for the rest of the season. He's not the most consistent pitcher in the world, but his presence in the Twins' rotation should help ease the pain of losing Kevin Slowey (wrist) for the rest of the season. The 33-year-old will bring a 5.37 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP to Minnesota. Justin Masterson will take over for him in Cleveland's starting rotation.

Well, it's important for who pays his bonuses. If he keeps on this pace he'll be owned about another $1.5M in bonuses.

He had a great 1st start going 7 Shutout Inning in a Twins Win against the White Soxs.

He would have been a nice pickup but as previously stated, salary matters.

You guys keep missing the fact that the Marlins had zero chance of getting Pavano. The Twins claimed him and they had a higher waiver priority than we do.

For all we know we did put a claim on him but the Twins' claim supersedes ours.

That s terrific point i was too blind to view, but now we have a higher waiver number than they do. Cause they used theirs, how many other teams have used theirs?

That's not how that works.

If more than one team puts in a waiver claim for the player, priority of waiver claims is determined as follows: teams in the same league as the team asking waivers, in order from worst record (as of the claim date) to best, then teams in the other league, in the same order). The highest priority claim stands, others are dismissed.
