Posted August 11, 200915 yr http://www.betus.com/sports-betting/mlb-baseball/articles/mlb-power-rankings-al-west-is-looming-large/ Not sure how they set the power rankings up, but it seems like it has to do something with betting and how you project at the moment, so 6th is actually really good!
August 11, 200915 yr Wow, that guy obviously doesn't hide his AL West bias' with having the Angels 1, Rangers 2, and the Mariners 7th. Hell the Mariners actually are out of the race. Don't read anything into that ranking, as the guy obviously has no idea what he is talking about. Hell he has 3 of the 4 NL West teams in the top 5 as well. I have no doubt this guy lives somewhere on the West Coast.
August 11, 200915 yr Author Yeah, I wasn't sure if it was based off anything, or if it was just some guy putting teams in order.
August 11, 200915 yr as much as i hate to say it the yankees should be #1 at this point. they've been playing great and swept the red sox creating more separation in the standings
August 12, 200915 yr Author http://www.betonline.com/sports-betting/mlb-power-rankings-8-1348.aspx This place seems way more reputable, and those rankings I definitely agree with..
August 12, 200915 yr I asked a friend who bets, and he suggested that the list is derived based on who would have paid the most if you had bet a fixed amount on that team each game. Obviously winning helps, and winning against the spread helps, and winning more when you are a bigger underdog would help, etc. The number after the record ATS (against the spread), which says some amount of +/- units is how the list is ranked. And to reiterate, that number is based off of making some sort of bet for that team every game (probably).
