So I just drew 1st pick in a league I've been in for years. Is there any real debate whether Peterson should be 1st pick or not? Only other names I've seen are Michael Turner and MJ Drew....

I would defo take Peterson

AP for sure.

AP is probably the consensus number 1 pick, but why not take Michael Turner?? Defenses won't be able to load up the bbox against the Falcons defense because of reaciving threats like Roddy White and Tonny Gonzaglez. Also Matt Ryan is about to have another huge season, at least IMO. I personally don't think signing Farve does anything for AP's value, and the Vikings only real threat is Bernard Berrian who is extremely incconsistant. Pick Turner, you won't regret it. Who ever you do take though, make sure you handcuff them with the backup RB.

No, it's the exact opposite. With the improvement of Ryan, and with Gonzalez coming in, it will only give them another reason to pass the ball. Turner won't even come close to the 376 carries he had last year, and if he does, there's a good chance he'll get injured.

AP for sure

Turner is a second question but MJD should not even be considered at 1, let alone the fact that he is preranked at 3. Those rankings are hoping for a lot out of MJD...

Stick with AP, you know what you are getting.

Though I've gotta say, this year is not the best to be #1. The best teams pick late this year.

Why not? MJD is the lone back in Jacksonville this year.

Which just makes an argument for grabbing whoever is technically behind him, not for actually taking MJD. He has never produced at the #3 level. They are putting a lot of hope into him, and I wouldn't touch it. He seems to be this years' Ryan Grant. No need to kick him up in your rankings, he's going to put the same numbers up as last year. A #10 pick, not #3.

Most of the 1st round picks are RB's in most leagues. #10 pick?

MJD has averaged 4.8 yards per carry in his career, and he's going to get more carries this year. I don't see that as a bad thing. Not to mention he can catch the ball too. He's never had less than 40 receptions in a season (had 62 last year).

That's great... but when push comes to shove everytime hype goes up about him he never matches with statistics. I'm fully aware of the fact that RB's are always up top, but I'm also fully aware that pre-ranking is never like actual ranking, because they seem to neglect the fact that players like Drew Brees are #1. RB's are great, but they are overrated.

MJD doesn't deserve a some 15 spot increase for not doing anything.

Thx for the advice gang. Our top 5 overall wound up: 1)AP, 2)MJD, 3)Turner, 4)Deangelo, 5)Brady

My team looks like this:

(Round of pick in parenthesis)

QB - Philip Rivers (4)

RB - Adrian Peterson (1)

RB - Joseph Addai (5)

WR - Calvin Johnson (2)

WR - Anquan Boldin (3)

WR - Lance Moore (7)

TE - Greg Olsen (9)

DEF - Tennessee (8)

K - Rod Bironas (12)

Bench: Pierre Thomas (6), Laverneus Coles (11), Kevin Walter (10), Derrick Ward (13)

Only question I really have at this point is possibly starting Pierre Thomas instead of Addai... it'll probably depend on the matchups.

Based on last year, there aren't many situations where I wouldn't start Pierre.

I hate the vikings more than any other team and I took AP with the first pick. Was wanting the last pick but i was wrong. first pick is awesome

Our top 5 went:

1. AP

2. Turner

3. DeAngelo

4. MJD

5. Forte

I disagree with most things said here... Burner is a redzone monster. I think Turner will go nuts yet again and MJD will be a machine so you can't go wrong with either but really its impossible to turn down AP. Honestly I like Steven Jackson better than DeAngelo this year. I also think Forte (im a homer) will have a monster year. So many touches and not 8 in the box with cutler.

My team (10 team league)

QB Matt Schaub

RB Adrian Peterson

RB Steven Jackson

WR Calvin Johnson

WR Roddy White

WR Santonio Holmes

TE Antonio Gates

K Neil Rackers

DST Bears

BN Jay Cutler

BN Marshawn Lynch

BN Donald Brown

BN Devin Hester

BN Donnie Avey

BN Nate Washington

My team is loaded. I loved having the first pick. Extatic with my first picks. How Calvin and Steven Jackson made it back to me and then Roddy on my 4 pick was awesome. The Big 3 QBs went before my 20th pick... and Fitz, Moss, AJohnson, Smith, Wayne went before Calvin. People are idiots. Was the last person to take a starting QB and I got my guy but I kept waiting and waiting to take Schaub. Schaub/Cutler is exactly what I wanted.

Had a good time at the draft. Did at my buddys bar. Anyone who drafted someone taken owed the whole league a round. Good times
