9/4 Postgame

Sean West sucked ass. Can't expect to win too many games with outings like that from our starters. Thankfully it was the Nats they were facing.

West pitched poorly, but he had been one of our better pitchers before the game. The Nationals actually have a very good offense too.

which speaks to the terribleness of our rotation. if they dont give hensley a shot it is a travesty. just because he doesnt have ace potential, the other guys get chances before him. ridiculous

West had a 2.77 ERA in August, that's why he's been one of our better pitchers lately.

Not because a guy with a 6+ ERA in the majors in 45 games in the last 2 years isn't getting a shot. Not to mention that those numbers came as a Padre, pitching in one of the best pitcher's parks of all-time.

which is why i said that that is pretty sad, considering he didnt go more ten 4 innings twice, and never made it past the 6th inning. like i said, hensley would be a great innings eater. he deserves a shot especially with our rotation not getting out of the 5th inning seemingly ever.

he has a 1.98 in his last 7 starts, and with our terrible rotation and what he would bring, he deserves a shot

It's sad that he had a 2.77 ERA? Come on.

And we don't want an inning eater, we want a guy who can pitch well. Look, does Hensley deserve a shot? Possibly, but pointing out West as the problem is wrong, at least recently. Secondly, Clay Hensley has always had great AAA numbers, including the last two years, but he hasn't been able to cut it in the bigs in that time. Pointing him out as a savior is extremely shortsighted.

Remember when you used to say the same things about Christhian Martinez? How come you don't anymore?

i never said west was the problem. i said its sad that our best pitcher in august went less then 5 innings twice. once again why do oyu take words out of my mouth? not once did i call him a savior. i said he deserves a shot.

This actually isn't nearly as important as it was a month ago. With expanded rosters, we now have Wood, Sanches, and Badenhop to pitch in long relief. And Volstad and Miller should be up in a few days. Quality innings are much more important, wherever it is that they may come from.

no, its still pretty important to get innings, even if it is 4 runs in 6 or 7 innings or something like that. it is extremely important as it gives chances for guys like hopper and sanches to pitch in more important situations. also, we arent even getting quality innings or long strt right now, so any type of innings right now would be huge

Yeah. 4 long relievers, if you include Martinez, as well.
