Thames is getting 900K if he makes the Yankees (which he will) so I could see where the Marlins would have balked at that.

We don't need an OFer who crushes LHP, we need a LHB who can play outfield. Brian Giles is that, but would you really be excited about signing Brian Giles at 39? There's a good chance we add somebody to fill the Gload role at the end of Spring Training. We don't need to be excited about non-roster invitees. Geoff Jenkins, Marcus Thames, Brian Giles, and the like are not making or breaking this team. Those guys will not be hard to find come March 30.

I don't know....Petersen I remember as a pretty good college player, and would love to see him breakthrough to surprise folks.
