November 15, 200322 yr ESPNinsider says Sheffield could make anything from 8-12 this offseason. If the following events end up happening, what would the chances be of the Marlins going after the Sheff? -Lee traded for Spivey -Castillo and Pudge signing elsewhere. Pierre Spivey Sheff Lowell Cabs Conine Gonzo Santiago/Castro or Redmond
November 15, 200322 yr Its an interesting idea, but I think I would rather go after someone a bit on the cheaper side. Use the saved money to firm up the pen and the bench. Of course, if you are planning on actually spending that cash, what would Vlad want from us? :shifty
November 15, 200322 yr We're not going to get Sheffield back either. He's just as much as Guerrero, and isn't as effective anymore.

November 15, 200322 yr We arent gonna get shefield. The Devil Rays want him and i dont think we are intrested in another outfielder. Castillo and Pudge are being offered contracts. Its likely that Castillo will come back. The Marlins really are going after him offering him deals.
November 15, 200322 yr Author Thanks for the welcome guys and here's to the 2003 champs! Maybe I can steal some regulars over to the ESPN boards.....[ :unsure : looking to make sure Admin isnt around :unsure : ] In regards to the Devil Rays and Sheff. I dont think they are going to sign him since they are probably going to spend around 10 mill and dont want to put all that in one guy rather than improving many positions with a number of signings, which is what they are probably going to do. I doubt Sheffield comes here either. The possible trade of Lee to the Dbacks would cause a chain reaction though. It would def mean the loss of Lee and Castillo and I think with the Orioles looking at Piazza, that our offer to Pudge wont go up. But if Pudge does end up signing elsewhere and we do trade Lee, doesnt that mean we end up going below of payroll target even with a resiging on Lowell? Perhaps then they retain Urbina. They would have to replace Lee's bat somehow, and if Pudge leaves, then Pudge's bat also.

However I don't think we will get him. Encarnacion will probably get traded and I think someone like Raul Ibanez could be a good replacement.
November 15, 200322 yr Sorry, but Vlad is our Opening Day RF. Gary can come off the bench if he would like
November 15, 200322 yr As good as Sheffield may be right now, he's not a good fit for this team. This relatively young team doesn't need a selfish player showing them how to do things. You think Jack would put up with Sheff?
November 15, 200322 yr Sorry, but Vlad is our Opening Day RF. Gary can come off the bench if he would like HE IS N... ah forget it, i dont want to piss juanky off
November 15, 200322 yr Sheff wants to play with the Yanks... Pierre Alomar Pudge Cabrera Lowell Lee Conine Gonzalez :w00t
