November 26, 200322 yr Too many of you are way to confident that an unproven Catcher that hasn't proved anything in the big leagues He just hit over .290 with 5 home runs in FIFTY AT-BATS. exactly he only had 50 at-bats we're going to base his ability to be a starting catcher on 50-at bats? One home run per 10 at-bats is a sick ratio. It's too small of a sample size. There's a lot of baseball players who hit 5 HR in 50 AB over the course of a season. I'm more worried about whether he can handle the staff than his bat anyway. I agree, that it's too soon to say whether Ramon will be a star or a flop. One things for sure- he's been chomping at the bit for 2 or 3 years to be a starting catcher- I think his attitude will be aggressive, in that he's got something to prove. That is, if I-Rod is gone.
November 26, 200322 yr Another thing that concerns me about Castro. We don't really know how good he is defensively behind the plate. Having a good defensive catcher is so important in the Majors.
November 28, 200322 yr Another thing that concerns me about Castro. We don't really know how good he is defensively behind the plate. Having a good defensive catcher is so important in the Majors. I know he covers the plate well and has a great arm.
November 29, 200322 yr I like how Adam LaRoche is owning the PRWL .327-.433-.582 4 HR in 55 AB. Donzell McDonald is doing well, too. Hey, Marlin Derek Wathan is hitting a solid .290 with a .347 OBP and .493 SLG in 69 ABs on LaRoche's team.
November 29, 200322 yr Update: R Castro 0-4 New avg .261 Link to Page Are you sure that's not the Venezuelan league shortstop? It says he's hitting .261.
November 29, 200322 yr Update: R Castro 0-4 New avg .261 Link to Page Are you sure that's not the Venezuelan league shortstop? It says he's hitting .261. Nope, that's linked to the official PRWL R.Castro CAT 4 0 0 0 .261 CAT = Catcher Ray is playing for the Cangrejeros de Santurce Ramon Castro
November 29, 200322 yr In that case, it's really cool how both Ramon Castros are hitting .261. That maybe cool, but I don't like the fact that the Marlins Ray Castro is only at .261

December 2, 200322 yr Hey Wild Card you still want to put your trust in Castro to be our starting catcher next year? "but he had 5 home runs in 50 at-bats."
