Dunkin’ Donuts, America's favorite everyday, all-day stop for coffee and baked goods, will celebrate a summer spectacular in Lauderhill at 7340 W. Commercial Boulevard (just east of University Drive on south side of street) on Saturday, July 17 with an appearance by Florida Marlins Outfielder Cody Ross.

Ross, who made his major league debut in 2003 and who is presently batting .292 with 7 HR’s and 44 RBI, will be signing autographs and taking pictures with customers from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Autographs are free; one item per person.

The summer spectacular is being celebrated by an “Open House style event from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. During the “Open House, activities include:

· One FREE donut per customer – no purchase necessary

· One FREE Travel Mug for the first 200 customers

· Children’s donut decoration station

· Opportunity to sample delicious products from the Dunkin’ Donuts Culinary Team

In addition, the event also features an appearance from 11 a.m. – 12 noon by Billy the Marlin, who will be accepting a $500 donation from franchisees Ishtiaq and Nadia Jinnah on behalf of the Florida Marlins Community Foundation.

The Foundation was established in January 1999 and its purpose is to promote educational, athletic, health, social and community service programs with a particular focus on South Florida’s youth.

(Reminder - Autographs are FREE, One Item per Person!)

Wow, an actual publicized Marlins free autograph signing? I have to go back to the days of Juan Pierre to find another one of these...

:( I miss all the fun. I want Cody's autograph, mugs and doughnuts.

It wasn't the team that abandoned SoFla.

Well..... but........I didn't...

I demand the Marlins do like 20 appearances after I finish my schooling to make up for all the ones I've missed.

Hanley had a free signing at one of the Brandsmarts down there last year, but I agree w/ you in general the amount of public appearances by sports teams in general has dramatically decreased. I remember in the 90's the Magic had at least one appearance a month; while it was almost always a backup player, it still built an attachment w/ the team. I think it probably has to do w/ appearance fees skyrocketing, as generally player appearances are requested and paid for by businesses looking to drum up business. W/ players wanting a "bigger piece of the action" when it comes to autographs and sports collectibles, it's just beyond most small businesses' budgets.

It's really sad to see what used to be a common, free/inexpensive transaction between the player and fan, become big business.

At that Hanley appearance last year he was only signing these postcards put together by the company sponsoring the whole thing, I think it was like Sony or some cellphone manufacturer.

Cody is only doing this cause he know he be gone soon. He wants those Miami style donuts.:lol

??? Please explain.

Cool to see Dunkin Donuts getting back in on sponsoring some Fish action but I'd rather they bring back the free donut rule.

I bet there isn't one person here who knows what a Dunkin' Donut is without the help of the internet. :brigginbounce

And Cody at DD is hardly a free signing, I guarantee you someone (either DD or a supplier) is paying handsomely to have him there.

If 'here' is Miami, then everyone should know what a Dunkin' Donuts is.
