August 6, 201015 yr With the naming of a new Manager, could the return of the Orioles to a great winning franchise be possible now?
August 6, 201015 yr No Explain yourself dang it! :lol I'll have a go for him... naming a new manager will almost never take a terrible team like the Orioles anywhere. It starts with good players. If you dont have those... a manager can be great or terrible. If they dont have the talent, it doesnt matter how good they [the manager] are.
August 6, 201015 yr They're screwed in that division unless they spend 200 million dollars like the Yankees.and Red Sox. Thank god the Marlins weren't put in the AL.

August 6, 201015 yr No he's right, the Rays did prove that you can compete in that league on a low payroll. Just not the Orioles with the team they have.
August 6, 201015 yr The Rays are good because they build solid prospects together with a couple of young guns and veterans. The prospects turned out fine, the young guns are solid and the veterans do what they need to do to help the team win.
August 6, 201015 yr Maybe? But it will have zero to do with the manager. The Rays have proved that you can compete with a medium payroll as long as you draft and trade well. The O's have done any of this. The Rays didn't turn around because of Joe Maddon, they turned around because of the FO.

They can't hit as well as the Yankees but still hit damn well, and they can outpitch them, especially in the pen. The Yankee's pen isn't particularly good while the Rays have the best pen in the league. It's similar to how the Padres are winning. You know what they say, "pitching wins games". Rays and Pads are attesting to that.
August 6, 201015 yr The Yankees lineup hasn't been all that good this season, either. Jeter and A-Rod are really starting to show their age and their performance has dropped off significantly.
