Grade the Marlins - 2010 Edition

I'm not exactly sure what that sentence is supposed to mean plus I'm not sure what building the team has anything to do with this.

Gah, I want nothing to do with this, I'm just biding my time til Panthers Hockey in an hour.

You dont need to be a part of this... blame Ashraf for listing your name :p

What does building have to do with this? What the heck is the point of grading in the first place? Purely for having it done? Grading allows you to know where you can improve and where you did well. No, Nolasco's poor grade on my report card doesnt mean he's off the team. It means we should plan to have him as a #4 or #5 starter (because Robertson and Volstad were merely average at best at those positions).

Your report card lets you know where you need to improve. Improving Nolasco at the #2 SP spot in the rotation is MUCH more important than improving Chris Volstad or Nate Robertson at #4 and #5.

Anyways, I want my Panthers hockey as well. Why do we torture ourselves?

Yeah, I don't agree with any of that but I think that's fine. We're not disagreeing on anything but what it should mean to grade, whatever. Terribly unimportant.

Well I originally tried to make that case... it's not like I didnt make it abundantly clear in my post that I was doing that (which is why my post shouldn't have warrented such responses)... but whatever. Exactly, we are arguing semantics. So lets stop. And enjoy Mike Weaver on first pairing defense with Jason Garrison. Oh joy :(

team management = F Don't even know where to start with the written evaluation. I felt they gave away the season by inserting Andrew Miller, who was finding no success in the minors, into the starting rotation. Sanabia rated a call-up at least a month before he got it. The team made no deals to help the team. I see no evidence that Morrison can play outfield in the major leagues or that he can hit with enough authority to play first. As a trade asset, he may have helped the Marlins get Jonathan Sanchez or another outstanding young pitcher before the season. I continue to wonder why in the world they give playing time to Cameron Maybin.

By the time Miller came up, we were realistically out of the race and had injuries to contend with. I agree with their decision that they may as well see if Miller could perform in the Majors as a last chance saloon sort of situation. If we let him go, at least we can justify it by knowing he still sucks rather than have a small hint of doubt if we hadn't brought him up.
