November 15, 201015 yr For part of this season, it appeared Gaby Sanchez was on his way to a Rookie of the Year Award following up on Chris Coghlan's from 2009. Unfortunately, Sanchez struggled as the season winded down dropping his stats considerably from the first half of the year. While Sanchez struggled, Buster Posey made headlines in San Francisco. On Monday, Posey came home with the Rookie of the Year Award to join his World Series ring finishing ahead of Jason Heyward (Atlanta), Jaime Garcia (St. Louis) and Sanchez respectively. Sanchez was at or near the top of several rookie statistical categories even with his sluggish second half. In the voting, Sanchez did receive two first place votes along with one second place and five third place votes which recognized his accomplishments despite the fact he finished far behind Posey in point totals. Sanchez tallied 18 points which was behind Posey's 129, Heyward's 107 and Garcia's 24. Garcia only received one first place vote however putting Sanchez third in terms of that category specifically. As far as other Marlins' rookie candidates, Logan Morrison and Mike Stanton received no votes. Click here to view the article
November 15, 201015 yr Wow, no votes for either of them? That doesn't really surprise me. Logan debuted late into the season and while Stanton was beast-like with his HRs, those others did have better rookie seasons.
November 15, 201015 yr Posey is easily my favorite non-Marlin. Great young player, very professional, former FSU Seminole, and we share the same birthday (March 27th). Very happy for him. Congrats to Gaby on a fine season as well.
November 16, 201015 yr I see why Morrison didn't get any votes, thats understandable. But I thought Stanton would steal a few 3rd place votes for sure.
November 16, 201015 yr Not really a surprise here. Gaby had a fine rookie season, but he put up similar offense to guys playing more demanding positions.
November 16, 201015 yr When do they vote? Right after the regular season or after the World Series? If its the latter than anyone not named Posey would be at a huge disadvantage.

November 16, 201015 yr I was surprised by the amount of votes Sanchez got - but I guess he deserves some of them for taking out Nyjer Morgan.
