Just got back from the Vet:

 

My observations:

 

1) Marlins need to be selective at the plate - Brett Myers 1st inning threw 5 pitches total...Brad Penny threw 6 pitches to the first batter1!!!!!

 

2) Once Penny felt comfortable with his curve, he was mixing pitches well

 

3) Castillo didn't seem right to me...He looked like he was strruggling at the plate and hitting wimpy grounders for the most part...Pierre was fun to watch

 

4) Great stolen base by Pudge!!!!

 

5) Torborg sucks - leaves Tejera in one batter too many...I did not want him in against Thome and he gives up rbi single

 

6) Bullpen sucks - Penny pitches great...then you bring in 3 guys (Tejera, Bladder-smear (Because he pisses all over everything) Nunez, and Pooper) who couldn't throw a strike if the zone was as big as the old Teal Tower...Pathetic bullpen almost blew it...The Phillies crowd was leaving early and rather subdued, then the pen came in and the crowd was totally into it....Should never give the other team momentum...

 

7) Paid attendance was @ 15,000...pretty weak (although MJ was next door playing the Sixers)

 

8) Only Spooney signed tonite..I guess because of Kansas City the players stayed away..Pudge trotted by but wouldn't say anything..

 

9) Don't know if a squirrel made the hi-lites but it came up to me (I was sec. 249 , 1st row of regular seats behind the box seats...Then it ran on the field after I shooed it and it ran to home plate right up to the ump... :mischief

 

10) Umpires suck- strike zone changed every inning, and Lowell was hosed in his first at-bat
