Hanley?

Featured Replies

Seriously, who gives a sh*t?

He can be the biggest asshole ever, as long as he hits the f***ing ball.

The Marlins have been great this year at coming up with dumbass chemistry quotes/"at least he cares" quotes.

I like the way Edwin manages, but he makes the fans dumber with his postgame comments.

These guys don't get paid to care and be nice; they're paid to produce. Hanley's always produced; he just needs to start doing that, again.

You said you "completely agree" with the guy who said "My guess is Hanley doesn't feel Hanley is getting the proper respect and adulation due to him by his teammates and is taking it out on the team as a result."

So you believe he is purposefully sabotaging the team. Which means that when he slams his bat or helmet, it's not out of frustration, it's a front because he's a petulant child.

This is, seriously, the dumbest thing I've ever read on this board, and there's some incredibly stiff competition.

I think by taking it out on the team he meant with his personal actions. Not signing the LoMo cast and all that. At least thats how I took it.

If I'm wrong, I guess I don't completely agree.

That seems like a poor interpretation.

The thread is about his performance issues.

The poster you agreed with said his "problems" stemmed from his immaturity, and that he was taking his issues out on the team because he wasn't getting respect.

Seems obvious to me.

There's something wrong with his swing. These attempts at psychoanalysis are completely unfounded and stupid. None of us know him, and really, we don't really know that much about the clubhouse atmosphere right now. Anybody trying to say they do comes off like an idiot.

I'm not saying I know something you don't. I'm just going by what I've heard. The LoMo thing and a few other situations suggest he's immature when he's struggling or when he's doing something wrong. Simple as that.

And I guess I don't agree with him, if what you said is what he meant, then. I guess I just misunderstood. He's doing everything right except for hitting the ball. He's walking, having good patience/swinging at mostly strikes, and playing decent D. He just can't get the bat on the ball.

I'm convinced it's a slump he'll break out of but the question is how long is it going to take?

When he struggles, though, he takes it out on people around him and I doubt he's a good clubhouse presence (though I don't know for sure). That's all I meant in agreeing with him.

And yet, besides the Lomo thing, by all accounts, he's been a great teammate this year and he's working his ass off to improve. We have no idea what actually happened with the Lomo situation, we just have an off hand comment from Lomo on a radio show that sounded like a joke. Ignoring everything else that's been said and keying in on that shows that people just want to rip on Hanley.

He's been a bad teammate in years past, but he's been receiving great reviews from anyone who has talked about him this year.

It seems like some people here have been waiting for him to fail because they dont like his attitude in years past, and are happy to see him get his comeuppance now. It's silly.

Again, I wasn't just going by this year. His track record shows he's not a very good teammate, especially when he struggles. If we don't know for sure, that's all we can really go by. The fact that Buck said he has been good in the clubhouse doesn't hold much substance to me. It's not like the guy is going to come out and say, "He's terrible in the clubhouse. Can't even talk to him", even if that was the exact case. It's a generic response.

Hanleys stock is about to crash, we have seen the best of him, I say trade him while he has some value, the guy has regressed since 2009.

trade him and leo nunez to texas for Andrus, Borbon, Moreland and O'day, he isn't worth the headaches he is causing, get that manny ramirez wannabe outta here, now if he hit like manny i would put up with it, but with his numbers? ehh bye bye.

Hopefully your first post is also your last post.

Not only is the trade horrible for Hanley straight up, but apparently we have to throw-in Leo Nunez, as well. Brilliant.

Well idiot would you rather have that combination of players or a sub 300, 15-20hr 70 rbi, club house cancer with horrible defense. that's being extremely overpaid, hanley won't ever sniff 2009 again in his life, i'm just expressing my mind, we are winning without the guy, and leo nunez f***ing sucks.

So we can go by what teammates said In years past, but not now. Got it.

It is impossible that he's matured.

I'm not going by what teammates have said in years past. I'm going by actions.

Hanley will be fine once he chokes up on the bat.

Don't want this to happen, he'll lose his power.

What power. That a joke. Hanleys power hahaha

Hanley's always been better than that, and Leo Nunez is more valuable than any player we'd be getting in return, not named Elvis Andrus (who would just be a replacement for Hanley/tremendous downgrade).

That was the worst post on this board in a very, very long time.

Yeah, it's much more logical to think guys like Bonifacio and Greg Dobbs are going to keep doing what they're doing as full time players.

the guy is a club house cancer, look at the whole thing with Logan Morrison, he didn't sign the cast, GTFOH with that, i'm sure no one even likes him in Marlins team, maybe yeah that texas trade is a downgrade, but whatever the Marlins need to trade him before his stock goes down.

We'd win the World Series if we had 24 players identical to Wes Helms.

fu*k Wel Helms that guy is a certified automatic out, send him to Texas too, i'm sure john wehner can come out of retirement and outperform that bum.

So you hate clubhouse cancers and character guys.

Tell me more about baseball.

Who's to say that Helms is a Character guy? for all we know he is the teams bitch, nobody respects the dude that's been in the league for 10+ years and has a career batting average of 240, who is he going to give advice to? if you were a millionaire would you listen to advice on how to make money from a peasant?

I'm willing to bet that Wes Helms is david samson personal sex gimp.

He OPSed .965 in 2006. But whose counting?

He'd make a good hitting coach. I'm pretty sure almost everyone agrees with that. Other than hitting lefties, giving advice is something he can still do with some effectiveness.

Everyone around the team way more than you.

Not that character guys really matter, but since you love them...

Also, his career BA is .258. But whose counting?

Also, he still has a career OPS over league average despite his struggles the last four years. But who cares about that?
