so lets say dominguez is our 3b next year, where will boni play? will we bench him or will he play 2b?

2B

The Marlins made a serious mistake in moving Skipworth to AA this season. hard to see if he'll develop while playing back-up to a career minor leaguer like Montz. Absoluetly no way in hell does Montz deserve a shot in the Majors with the Marlins, especially with Hayes or Davis able to provide the role that he would take. As for comparisons to Dominguez with Skipworth, Dominguez has shown way more ability to hit, I'm also reminded of the last time the Marlins tried to give a job to someone and how the next year that player (Sanchez) showed he deserved to be in the line-up, IMO Dominguez will follow those footsteps.

Skipworth isn't backing anyone up.

I still haven't gotten a good explanation as to why Skipworth went straight to AA, beyond 'the FSL is a pitcher's league', which I don't really agree with. I've been to many games and it's usually a slugfest on par with college ball.

I've been to at least 5-6 games and in only one of them did I actually see a homer...granted there were 3 in this one. It may depend on where you are seeing the games, some parks may be much better than the league average for hitting but that doesn't mean the league overall is a hitters realm.

Is it reasonable to conclude that the drafting of Realmuto was a sign the Marlins, as an organization, are admitting that Skipworth is a bust, or close to a bust? Can Skipworth become a pitcher? Any statistics on him?

I don't necessarily think so. He was a 3rd round pick, which is reasonably high, but it's also hard to project what he's going to do. He's a 20 year old kid who's hitting .273 in Low A, which isn't bad, but not really interesting.

As far as Skipworth goes, he would have to be a lot older for the team to give up on him becoming a catcher. Despite all of his struggles, he's still only 21.
