While I don't think the Meals call was necessarily as bad as everyone is making it out to be, the situation is reminiscent of many a bad call in the past.

They need, at the very least, to start implementing run scoring instant replay. I find it so silly that HR's are so 'valuable' that they alone deserve instant replay. They are what makes a player overrated to the casual fan.

There's nothing different from a solo shot HR than from a ground out RBI in terms of the score of the game. I don't see why they don't get treated equally in regards to a review.

The Good Doctor is exactly right. Why does it matter if it was a HR or a nubber to the 3B? Regardless, it could cost a team the game.

I actually think we should do this in increments. HR's were the first. Next, we should go for all scoring plays and then we'll go on from there.

And as far as how, I think having a 5th ump in a replay booth (like the NFL) or a centralized replay facility in NYC (like the NHL) would be the best options.

Why we have to have our four umps gather together, talk for a minute, and then shuffle off to some back room where they can then ask for the replays when there can be a guy who is live and ready to do this, I don't know.

I like this new like system. I can express my liking of your post without having to write out some elaborate response that is relevant to the conversation by just hitting like!

I dislike this.

I hope these screw-ups keep happening, The more they do, the more pressure on MLB to do it. I think reason why MLB has been resistamt to it is because Selig is a technophobe, not because of tradition or keeping the human factor in the game. He'll be 77 years old on Saturdary(wow, I guessed 70 and thought I was probably a couple years too high before I looked it up). The hair dye must've thrown me off.

Baseball isn't the only sport behind in regards to using video technology. Soccer still hasn't adopted it for goal-line incidents. Both sports should get with the times.

I think instituting replay is inevitable. From what I've heard, though, it could take a while for it to get here. I, for one, am for it. I think once it's here, the ones who wanted to keep the status quo won't take long to accept it. Come on MLB, let's get these calls right.

I find it amusing that the same critics that complain about 3+ hour games are the same guys asking for replay. Because that'll make it shorter.

Baseball has decided that offense = fans, as long as that is the expectation, games are going to be hella long.

In the time it takes a tv station to replay the same thing five times, an umpire somewhere else in the nation can make a very quick call. Have one guy watching each game at all times, and when there's a call that he deems should be overruled, a message is sent to the crew chief on field.

The umps at the game wouldn't even have to initialize the review.

"And Hanley grounds out routinely to third. Two down."

"... and the call has been overturned! Wow!"

*Marlins score 9 in the inning*

Wes Helms is still on this team?!
