Posted August 10, 201113 yr James Shields just threw his major league leading 8 CG of the year and 4th Shut out. He did it in an hour and fifty three minutes. Shortest 9-inning game in Rays history. Cy Young candidate?
August 10, 201113 yr Author Yeah. I have. But that's why I asked if he's a candidate. Not "the" Cy Young winner in your opinion.
August 10, 201113 yr Yeah, Justin Verlander has thrown the same amount of innings in the same amount of starts and has allowed 20 less runs. He's a candidate. But he's not in the same league as a few other guys.

August 10, 201113 yr He'll get some votes, but there's better options. So yes, Cy Young 'candidate'. But he probably wont come close to winning it.  At this point it's a showdown between Verlander and Weaver.
