Now its time to sign Pudge!

Featured Replies

If we can resign Pudge, we can come back next year and have another successful year. Maybe not win it all again, but definately make a push for the wild card. Burnett will help a lot when he returns. I just hope they resign Pudge, cause he is the key to our success.

No,....he really isn't. Anybody who signs him long term is taking a big risk, and better be able to afford a back up plan.

He did a good job for the Marlins, but it's time to let him go. And this organization knows it. He's at that age where catchers begin to break down. The fish can't afford to blow a bunch of money long term on someone who might not be productive much longer.

16 HRs and 85 RBI hitting in RBI slots in the batting order is less than spectacular, and certainly not hard to replace. Especially at the price Boras is looking for.

I enjoyed watching him play last season, and I think he's a heck of a ball player, but I not only think he isn't the key to this team, he isn't even a good fit anymore. Castro will be the catcher, and will open some eyes. And he won't break the bank. The money that is saved from not signing Pudge will allow them to have somebody for the catcher to catch.

If you can sign him for 2 or 3 years, then is a good move. PR wise and you keep the team chemistry pretty much intact.

Pudge is not your typical catcher. I would like to get him for 2 more years. We shall see. . .

Don't hold your breath.

I wish it was that easyto re-sign pudge but we need to get the money out of somewhere. First we are trying to close a deal with Lowell and Castillo then Loria/Beinfest will meet with boras.

One step at a time.

I expect Lowell and Castillo to sign at the end of the weekend into Monday, and then we'll put down the Pudge offer for two years and hopefully an optional third.

thnaks for the reminder, lets go sign him right now

sounds like a plan.

I think it is time for Castro to get a chance since he had 5 hr in 50 abs which in a full season equates to.... 50 HOMERUNS

I think penny should lose some weight, castro's strong but he looks fat.

this whole thing about pudge bings up something interesting: what about castro?

if pudge comes to his senses and signs with us, it'll be another year riding the pine

if pudge is gone, does mckeon even go with ray? the logical answer is yes, but torborg and mckeon have made it clear before that red is the backup to pudge

pudge leaving would make for some great position battles, as in who takes over at catcher and what happens to juan enc

stay tuned...

Some of you don't seem to understand that catching every day does take its told on the offense. Believe me, Pudge and Piazza are a rarerity

I agree, Keys. Pudge is not necessary - a luxury for this team.

And I think you've lost your mind. Javy Lopez just set the single-season record for most HR's by a catcher with 45. Even Pudge and Piazza can't get to 50. There's no way that Castro will either. I say we sign Pudge, trade Castro, and replace Pudge with Willingham in a few seasons.

I know 50 hr's is farfetched but i was just estimatng based on a 500 ab season from this year.
