Michael
What's wrong with Kung Fu Panda? I like him. He shouldn't be starting over David Wright.. but still. That's exactly it. Plus Sandoval was injured and has only played in 51 games. His slash line is all-star worthy, sure, but definitely not over David Wright's, especially if you look just slash line. Then you take the overall stats, and Wright blows him away. Plus the games played thing ...

Admin
Not going to watch because its boring. Same here. Buck and McCarver suck, FOX endlessly shills their sh*tty programming, and all of the MLB charity stuff puts me to sleep. It's basically a 5 hour PBS telethon hosted by the two worst broadcasters in the business. However, if Ruggiano were an all-star I probably would have watched anyway. If Uggla can make it with a .221/.351/.395 line and Napoli with .228/.340/.419, why the hell not? I don't care if he only has 90 PAs. Especially with no Marlins rep. Samson has a right to be pissed. He also has more service time than Harper. And when it comes down to it, who the hell cares how many ABs he has? He's destroying the ball right now and can help the NL get home field advantage. I don't even think that should be an issue, especially for reserves.

At first I thought he was joking about the service time stuff, but now I'm not so sure. :lol And the number of PAs does matter a lot. There's a ton of people in the NL who have put together a stretch of 90 PAs with 1.000+ OPS. That doesn't make them all stars. And if it's about "winning the game" I'd much rather have Bryce Harper on my team than Justin f***ing Ruggiano. This is award winning lunacy I'm reading. Call your president and manager lunatics, too, then because they both mentioned Ruggiano as someone who could've repped us along with Cishek and Infante. Bottom line is wheter it was Ruggiano, Cishek, or someone else, this team should have had a rep at this game. We have guys that can help and especially because Stanton was having surgery and couldn't even be at the game, we should have someone there with a cap and jersey on. Something else the commissioner's office handled terribly. What does that make during Selig's tenure, 2.5 million instances?
Admin
The only person I've heard say that so far is Samson, and I have no qualms saying he's a lunatic. He is one for multiple reasons. If Loria and Ozzie said that Ruggiano should be an all-star, then they are either loons too are just butthurt that their team sucks.
Michael
Ozzie said if he was gonna send anyone, it'd be Ruggiano cause of how well he's been hitting for us if he could. I don't remember Loria saying it.
Admin
If it's about winning, there are people not selected for the all-star team from other organizations that would help the NL team more than Cishek or Infante. You can't even pretend that the lack of Marlins players is hurting the NL squad. Outside of Stanton, no other Marlins player improves that roster. I'm really baffled as to why people are so upset that there isn't a Marlins player dressing for the all-star game. If your answer is Justin Ruggiano, it's pretty obvious that everyone sans Stanton sucks. Why's it so damn important to have a mediocre player there that you are taking this to the point of absurdity? Because it's embarassing to a fanbase that no one is there from their team. There are other shit teams that have players there. Worse teams than us. Also, in past years, sh*ttier players than Cishek, Ruggiano, and Infante have made All-Star teams so that their team would have a rep.

I don't remember Loria saying it. And a lot of Ozzie's remarks like that aren't meant to be taken seriously. If I'm thinking of the same comment you are, he mostly said something along the lines that Ruggiano would be the player he would send if he had to send someone other than Stanton. I don't recall him saying that Ruggiano deserved to be an NL all-star.

Because it's embarassing to a fanbase that no one is there from their team. There are other shit teams that have players there. Worse teams than us. So why are you blaming Selig/La Russa/etc for that? Because Selig should have made an authoritative decision that La Russa had to pick a Marlin (whoever it was) once Stanton wasn't going to be able to rep us. If Stanton was able to attend the ASG festivities and sit in the dugout for the game and be introduced as an All-Star, I wouldn't care that much. He couldn't. The Marlins were no where near the ASG this year and that's wrong, no matter how bad your team is. Take the 2007 Pirates for example. An awful team. They still had a rep: Freddy Sanchez with a .708 pre All Star break OPS. By that rationale, Infante could've gone, Hanley could've gone, Reyes could've gone, LoMo could've gone. Want someone with more ABs? Fine. Acceptable argument. That's not my point. My point is a Marlin should be there and Samson has a right to be pissed that there isn't.
