Who should be are catcher next season?

Featured Replies

PR-wise, pudge. we want to capture fan interest and not alienate our new fanbase.

we won't win as many games b/c of his salary, but the marlins NEED pudge.

Sure i would love him to be our catcher next season but if we can't sign i'd say we get benny. I'm not saying i don't want him.

i'm shocked that pudge has 3 votes, benny has 2 votes, and castro has 0 votes.

i thought everyone would be all over castro.

we should get gregg zaun, since he was a big part of the 97 championship team, and would improve our fan base. :lol

in all seriousness pudge would be my choice as alkazoid said, PR-Wise we would keep the fans we gained last year when he signed, and the pitching seemed to mature under him.

I honestly think that Pudge will re-sign. There doesn't appear to be a lot of interest out there in him for what he's asking.

the whole Pudge PR stuff is bs. The fans didnt start coming out because of Pudge and the gang. They came out because they jumped on the bandwagon. That bandwagon was us WINNING.

Not to mention, I think the fans can handle being stuck cheering for such poor saps such as Pierre, Castillo, Cabrera, Lowell, Conine, AJ Burnett, Josh Beckett, Brad Penny, and Dontrelle Willis. Dang these new Marlins fans sure have it rough...I mean they suffered through watching the Marlins lose 3 games in the NLCS and 2 in the WS, and now they wont be able to watch Pudge be a Marlin? Horrors!

I voted for Henry Blanco. I felt bad for him, having no votes and all.

Anyway, I'm starting to like the idea of Castro and Willingham. Platoon them, if one of them is hot, let them play it out, and if one of them takes a stranglehold on the job...perfect.

Here's a thought...

Trade for Brian Schneider. Cheap. Young. Solid D. Bad OBP but fouls off enough to put up great pitches per PA numbers. Gap power could produce tons of doubles in PP. And most important of all, he bats lefthanded providing a perfect platoon partner for righties Redmond and Castro. If we can also net Wilkenson and a decent reliever (please no Alaya) and him for Pavano or Redman that's a good deal.

not sure why they would give up Wilks?

considering Vlad will be gone and they dont have much to replace them with.(Broadway is the name im looking for i think)
