April 8, 201313 yr Granted this team is not going to win a ton of games....but the starting pitching, so far, has been good enough to win just about every game...and there was enough offense to hand the bullpen leads all three games against the Mets.....so what can be done about the 'pen? Closer needs to close games he gets and not allow those baserunners. Middle relievers cannot keep giving up long balls.
April 8, 201313 yr The best way to improve the bullpen is to shore up the offense, that way our bullpen can look a little better and a little more respectable.
April 9, 201313 yr I'm more worried about having some actual offense before I even think about the 'pen..
April 9, 201313 yr Doesn't really matter what the bullpen does at this point since the offense is incapable of scoring runs.
April 9, 201313 yr I see futuregm And yokofox seem to agree with me. Like right now, 2-0 score, could be 3, 4-0 by the end of the ninth inning. If we had an offense, it could be tied or we would be ahead. Simple as that.
April 9, 201313 yr I disagree there was enough offense to win the New York series, situational hitting in the finale was terrible, a bigger issue than the bullpen is the lack of offense. Can't win ballgames if your pitchers have to throw a shut out to get a tie!
April 9, 201313 yr Who knows if this starting staff will crack under the pressure of having to keep the other, better, teams down and when the bullpen fall apart from overuse-it matters not, until maybe we can get some hits and runs. We are a pathetic offensive team and it is a struggle to watch us bat.
