Dunn and Cishek are going to Arb 1, Webb to Arb 2

Anybody think Loria is going to pay $5M for those three next year?

Yes, I do.

Anybody think Loria is going to pay $5M to those three next year when he also has Lomo and the Great One to pay for the first time?

Cishek might be close $5m alone if he gets 30 saves this year (which he's on pace for) considering Andrew Bailey got $3.9m his first year of arb. I seriously doubt King Loria will pony up for him if he won't even eat Nolasco's salary to get better prospects.

Did it ever occur to anyone that we might just be holding out for someone to make the offer we want? (2 good prospects plus Ricky's contract)

It's not smart to go out and tell the media "Yea, we're cool with paying the money if we gets some good prospects" when they ALREADY have that offer from the Rockies...

No I don't think that because the plan was to have Ricky traded already and to have Alvarez pitch tonight

Well, I mean, it could have been the plan... Doesn't mean the plan worked.

I dunno. I don't think the money should even be an issue. It should basically come down to who is offering the best prospects. The deal should and could have been completed by now.

I agree, but I think they're trying to maximize value and I can't fault them for that.

And in the process Ricky's era is over 5 his last 4 starts. The reality is Ricky mediocre to below mediocre at best. If they had a decent offer for him from the Rockies, they should have taken it and eaten the money.

Hell, I would give them Dunn and Cishek for Castellanos.

Do you really want to part with the two best arms in the pen for a 3B when we just drafted one? I mean, I get that he's a top 20 prospect and all, but you still need pitching to compete.

It's a gamble at this point. Every start Ricky has could either help build a case for him or against him. If he could string together a few starts like the one he had tonight, then we could probably get something better for him, but what are the odds he does that...

Teams already know what they are getting with Nolasco.

He makes about $450,000 a week.

So the longer it goes on, the less salary money is at stake.

I don't think Loria likes to pay Nolasco $450K a week, so I'm betting he pulls the trigger before Ricky's next start.
