Cishek has 9 saves in 10 opps since this announcement was made. 1.13 ERA with 2 walks in 16 innings. He has not allowed a run since June 4th. Yet another positive from the month of June.

Just a lack of execution to start the year. The stuff is there, now the execution is there. Glad to see it, because everyone else is able to fall into their roles just right.

Am I the only one who thinks it would be a good idea to trade Cishek?

Probably.

No, I feel the same way.

I think we should too.

I heard somewhere that the Tigers would be willing to trade Castellanos for a closer. That should give us an indication of their overblown value.

If we can get Castellanos for him you better pull the damn trigger.

Otherwise, I'm more inclined to keep Cishek. He's a really good closer.

I was thinking along the lines of trading Cishek and Nolasco to fill the holes at SS and C. They seem to be the only holes left on the roster.

Where would we play him, though, assuming we sign Moran and he fast-tracks to the big leagues?

Any possibility he could play short? lol

You don't worry about that now. Moran's got a year or two until he's possibly major league ready. You have a chance at Castellanos, you take him. I'm sure long term one can easily move to 2B and Dietrich can become the SS.

I doubt the Tigers would part with a top 20 prospect for Cishek though. I'd love for it to happen though.

Cishek is definitely our most intriguing trade asset if the team is willing to part with him.

There are way too many contending teams with struggling bullpens at the moment and Cishek would be one of the best guys available. Teams tend to overpay for relievers at the trade deadline.

I love how all of you talk about trades like you have some say in the matter, like your all advisers to the GM or something, lol.

Teams with low payrolls who are really trying to improve do not trade away their young players as soon as they become useful.

Adrian Gonzalez ring a bell?

Yea, if the Tigers want to trade Castellanos I'm all for dealing Cishek. He could have that kind of value, actually, considering he's under club control for several more years...

Teams with low payrolls who are really trying to improve and are still 2 years away should consider trading away even useful young players if the players are about to get paid and can fetch an above market return.

Relievers are so volatile that any club looking to compete in 2 years or so should deal when they can get something good in return. Closers are ridiculously overvalued, and Cishek has quite a few club-controlled years left. I would look to see what's out there for him. He's got to be worth around as much as Papelbon given his contract status. You just have to find a team that isn't in 'all-in' mode that would value that.

I don't understand.

Edit: I do now, never mind. And yeah, exactly.

Yea, if we can get a Castellanos for Cishek I'm game. If someone wants to give us something stupid that's fine... Otherwise he should remain here.

Hell, I would give them Dunn and Cishek for Castellanos.

Castellanos for Dunn and Cishek isn't that unrealistic if Tigers are as desperate as they say they are for RP.

How is Castellanos defense at 3b? I know the tigers have him at OF cause of a replacement level scrub at 3b they start every day for some reason, but is Casellanos at least avg at 3b?

Its supposed to be average defense. I would take it in a heartbeat

Do you really want to part with the two best arms in the pen for a 3B when we just drafted one? I mean, I get that he's a top 20 prospect and all, but you still need pitching to compete.

Dunn and Cishek are going to Arb 1, Webb to Arb 2

Anybody think Loria is going to pay $5M to those three next year when he also has Lomo and the Great One to pay for the first time?
