6/22 Marlins vs Giants

I don't understand that rule. If Zito is allowed to score, Blanco should be allowed 3B and he wasn't.

So, just curious, why was Turner so highly regarded in the Minors? Nothing really stands out to me with him.

He used to throw in upper 90s. I think it's more a choice not to throw that hard right now. Hopefully as he matures hell get back up there

From Keith Law in mid 2012:

Turner was consistently up to 97 mph with his fastball in high school, touching 99, but is more 90-94 now. He works with a two-seamer that has some tailing life and generates a few more ground balls than his four-seamer does, but not enough to overcome the fact that he doesn't miss bats like he should...As much as I understand the idea of making starting pitchers more efficient, I don't get the idea of taking a power pitcher like Turner and turning him into a finesse/ground ball guy; I think he's lost a little arm speed, but that could also be a function of trying to 'pitch' too much instead of just letting it go.

Scouting reports used to have Turner as a guy who used to throw mid-90's. A huge part of the concern with the Tigers before he was traded was that his velocity was down when he struggled.

His velocity is up this year. Averaging 92.7 mph on his fastball before this start.

I think he projects to be a nice mid-rotation starter instead of the ace he was probably hyped up to be. His starts this year have been encouraging.
