A Refreshing Change in Perception

In a sport were all teams play 162 games, one game is essentially meaningless

That's worse than saying "my vote doesn't matter...what's one?" Although it is hard to not feel that way

Not to make this a political debate but I've always hated those who argue against that argument because no election has ever been determined by just one vote. The Mariners could have made the playoffs with one more win last season... But one more vote would not have made Mitt Romney thePresident of the United States in 2012. Just sayin.

In the past I've made Silverbullet's argument to several people regarding basketball, which is a sport I also watch at times and do not dislike.

People in South Florida especially seem to equate the pace of baseball with "boringness" whereas a fan like myself sees action in every single pitch, every throw over to first to hold a runner. the infield/outfield alignments per at bat etc. Even football, if you really analyze it is a very slow sport. I read an article where the average NFL game only has actual action time of about 11 minutes and everything else is lining up and huddles.

You guys do realise that voting between Republican and Democrat is like voting between Pepsi and Coke, i.e. There's a slight distance but basically it's the same thing?

Here is the UK we do have different parties representing different political ideals: Conservative (current incumbents - democracy for the benefit of those with money), Labour (socialism for the benefit of those with money), Liberal Democrats (democracy for those without much money too), UKIP (nationalism) and Green (environmentalism).

Sadly, like most of the UK, all our political parties suck.

Anybody notice we're having a nice spring? First place in the grapefruit league with a nice run differential...

We're keeping it hush-hush in case Reid Brignac and Jhontahno Solano make the club.

Yeah I noticed this today. I wasn't even thinking what place we were in , I was just curious about our record and other teams as well and I was like Woah were in first?!

Yet The Grapefruit League is so meaningless that not even the first place team cares that they're in first.
