ALL-NEW SERIES “MARLINS CLUBHOUSE” FEATURES BASEBALL THROUGHOUT SOUTH FLORIDA

MIAMI (April 9, 2015) – Baseball may be known as America’s Pastime, but nowhere does the sport reign more supreme than South Florida. From baseball at the little league and high school levels, up through college, Minor leagues and the Bigs, the Sunshine State is constantly buzzing with the sound of Summer. It’s with that mindset and high-quality production that FOX Sports Florida, the statewide television home of the Miami Marlins, is proud to introduce the statewide premiere of an all-new series titled “Marlins ClubHouse.”

Set to debut on FOX Sports Florida tomorrow, Friday at 6:00 p.m. before the Marlins LIVE! pregame show, “Marlins ClubHouse” is a magazine style show geared towards the young baseball player ages 13-18. The show is hosted by FOX Sports Florida analyst and former Marlins outfielder Preston Wilson.

Below are a list of segments that will be in the shows throughout the season, with a detailed run down on tomorrow’s premiere:

Ø Coaches Corner: A firsthand, instructional baseball clinic with tips on technique from Marlins fans favorite coaches. In this episode, Marlins Third Base Coach Brett Butler walks us through the proper technique to lay down both a sacrifice bunt and bunt for a hit.

Ø My Journey: A baseball diary of Marlins players journey to the big leagues. Episode one will feature left fielder Christian Yelich.

Ø Marlins Scouting Report: We swing around the minors to catch up with future Marlins. In this episode, pitcher Tyler Kolek tells us about what he’s working on and how he’s adjusting to the pros thus far.

Ø Future Phenoms: High School baseball in South Florida is rich with talent and passionate players. This segment will check in with kids facing a decision surrounding playing next at the professional or collegiate level. In this episode, we’ll spotlight American Heritage Delray infielder Jonathan India, who is ranked as the 2nd overall high school infielder in the nation by Perfect Game.

Ø UHealth Tip: Sponsored by UHealth Sports Medicine, we’ll provide medical advice from the experts surrounding injuries and baseball.

Saw Preston Monday heading towards the media entrance and he stopped and chatted with me for a few minutes. He walked past 100 people and no one recognized him.

Cool story I know.

Either they didn't recognize him or they did and just didn't care to acknowledge him. Wanna guess which one is most likely?

Well being its South Florida, I'm going to go with they didn't recognize him.

I think besides maybe Stanton and Jose, most Marlins' players could walk around South Florida and avoid being recognized by casual fans.. Kinda crazy.

In their defense, though I hate defending them... most athletes look pretty regular out in public. I met Jose Fernandez at a gas station once... nobody but I recognized him. If I hadn't looked him dead in the eye basically by chance, I may not have even noticed him.

Back to the original point about Preston though, if he's walking through Marlins freakin Park then I'd think someone would recognize him. I've always noticed when a Marlins personality is walking in or around Marlins Park because that's what I'm there for.

You may be going there to see the Marlins, but most people in Miami are going there to be the ones seen.
