August 18, 201511 yr To be fair, Gordon's BABIP was unsustainable in April and May, and much more reasonable in June-August. I don't think the "real" Dee Gordon is a .353 OBP bat. Overall, though, I've been pleased with his production this season.
August 18, 201511 yr I was wrong about Dee and about Hech. Although Dee's doldrums worry me, he'd be such a great player if he learned to walk and got better jumps on the bases. Hech's offense has not improved much at all from 2014, especially in the peripheral sense. His value has gone up because I think he's improved in the field so he's making less stupid mistakes.

If I recall (and will lookup later), he is the best def SS per runs saved right now. On another note, can someone please call out Joe fucking Frisaro for using metrics to support how good hech is defensively when last year he shat all over metrics cause they said hech sucked?

August 19, 201511 yr I don't really see how I am "cherry picking", really. The span I am discussing is 300+ at bats when his BABIP is at roughly his career norm. Not to be a dick, but I don't think you can hold the 5 weeks when his BABIP was .493 to the same standard.

Also, considering that this lineup sucks, who exactly is a better alternative to put at the top of the order? Even if you don't like him hitting 1st because you want a guy like Yelich there, Dee would still likely hit 2nd, not at the bottom of the order. Especially since you also think that Hechavarria is terrible, as well. This lineup isn't good.

To be fair, I don't think his overall #'s represent his actual talent level offensively projecting his future. With that said, I still think you're underrating his talents and I don't see why you'd want him hitting in the bottom of the order considering the alternatives. There aren't many high on base guys on this team.

Unless you want Yelich hitting leadoff, putting Gordon at the bottom of the order doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

He's had one horrendous month, and that was in July when his BABIP was below league average at .268. He is always going to be a high BABIP guy because of his speed. No, not .493, but probably in the mid .300s. Gordon's issue is that he doesn't walk, and that's why he is never going to be a top-flight hitter. However, if he can OPS .750 at a position that doesn't have many good offensive players while also playing terrific defense, what's the problem?
