Posted November 15, 20159 yr The Marlins appear committed to first baseman Justin Bour but say they want him to get in better shape (Bour admits he needs to become more toned at the very least) and will consider cheap right-handed hitting platoon options. Bour hit .221 (15 for 68) with no homers against lefties but .262 with 23 homers and 73 RBI overall. http://miamiherald.typepad.com/sports-buzz/2015/11/dolphins-can-clear-lots-of-cap-space-to-fill-needs-gannons-concerns-um-coaching-search-heat-marlins-.html
November 15, 20159 yr lol poor Bour, calling him a fatso. He still managed to outkick his coverage, so props there. But yeah man, he's a great asset if platooned correctly, this is definitely the right route. Any word on the Napoli front? If I were him, something like this is perfect since it can kind of keep his degenerative hip condition a little more managed. Also, we've seen the FA options (Corey Hart, Mark Reynolds, Etc.), but are there any trade options out there that could be explored? Like what team has sort of an expendable piece that could be had for maybe a B type prospect or a couple of C types. I know the Twins have a logjam in their lineup if they actually sign Park. It would probably take more than a couple of prospects to get him, but I wouldn't mind Trevor Plouffe. Lot of power in his bat, and he could spell Prado every once in a while. Though his lefty splits aren't great and his defense is bad enough to where I wouldn't trade much for him so I guess it isn't really a great option lol. Who else?

From what I have gathered, he wants to find a full time gig and believes he may still be able to do that. If/when he can't, the fish could become an option if they haven't signed anyone else by then. Keep in mind the key word "cheap" above. This is true as it would be part-time. Odds are Napoli will be able to get more money elsewhere even in a part-time role.

I haven't really kept up with the farm system recently.
November 15, 20159 yr I mean a platoon is the best thing possible for Bour. The last great catcher we had was the combo of Baker/Paulino. Don't understand why the team doesn't take advantage of platoon advantages a need positions more often.
November 15, 20159 yr The options for this aren't exactly plentiful. This is the kind of crap that leads to McGehee finding a way back on the team. Don't say I didn't warn you.
